I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant. The staff are so friendly and willing to assist and go the extra mile.

As a party of 8 we were given the smaller private tepanyaki table. We all thoroughly enjoyed our sushi, yakitori, miso, tempura and tepanyaki choices and were entertained at the same time. Great fun and great food!

Great Sashimi- but the tepenyaki far too sweet . The Japanese chefs have all left about one month ago,, and sadly it shows. The place generally needs a spruce up, and the cutlery was really awful. Embarrasssing to serve a miso soup with the cheapest thinnest desert spoon that can found, Sad when it was close to being a fine... More

The meals were Awesome, a bit pricey, but worth it. if you sit around the table and watch the chef cook your meal, it is an awesome experience. the atmosphere is great and a pleasant walk on the beach after dinner will top of the evening.

We ate 2 meals here and enjoyed both of them. The hibachi grill is entertaining and makes delicious food. We also really enjoyed the non hibachi food--sushi, tempura, etc.

This place is always busy and booking is always advisable. Food is average but good service and vibe.

This sleek, modern Japanese restaurant, where I dined twice in one week, serves some of the best sushi and sashimi I have ever tasted, giving lie to the assumption that the best seafood in South Africa is automatically shipped to Johannesburg and Pretoria. The service is relaxed and friendly, and at the current rand-dollar exchange rate, the food is a... More

I always eat at Daruma when visiting Durban - the sushi is first class. Service is excellent and the decor and seating environment very comfortable. I ate their twice last week when Durban was hosting a major international conference. Both nights the restaurant was packed but that added to the fun. There was a great party atmosphere, beginning with staff... More

Dinner at Daruma is always a good experience. Had Beef Teppenyaki and wanted the meat meduim rare - the best "steak" I have ever had. Wife had seafood Teppenyaki and my daughter had sushi and deep fried ice cream. Great to watch the chefs prepairing your meal in front of you at the Teppanyaki tables. Great place, lovely ambiance with... More
