I had been to daruma again after a bad experience and am extremely happy to say that the food and service is exceptional. Hats off to the staff there and you definitely will be seeing more of my family and I at your restaurant.

I have been visiting this restaurant now for 20 years and the food is superb! Our last visit was in December 2016 and I was thrilled with my experience. We had booked a private room. The service was spot on, the sushi was fresh and tasty and the teppanyaki sets were amazing.

Delicious, authentic Japanese food. Our main dishes and sushi starters had exquisite flavour. All the food is cooked in front of you which also creates an incredible ambiance in the restaurant.

This is my favorite restaurant in Durban. Tepenyaki is fantastic, the head chef is well trained fun and has been with the restaurant for many years. Restaurant is recommend by American Express. Frequented by foreigners. Great ambience. Highly recommend.

Upon entering the restaurant the host seemed friendly however it went downhill from there on. Our waitress (Abigail) had a poor attitude and acted as though she was doing us a favour. She informed us that hot beverages could no be made as the kettle was broken but this seemed false as I saw other waiters and waitresses serving their... More

The menu promises plenty of vegetarian dishes but they are all misleading. The miso soup is full of fish sauce, the fried dishes are all done in oil with meat dishes. At least they were honest enough, will never go back. In fact, the worst review you can bestow on any establishment is when you leave hungry and need to... More

Visited Daruma with a party of 7, the experience was not great especially for the high end prices they charge. they mixed up the order and the portions. charged R30 for a small container of chopped chillie not value for money will not be going back there.

When in Durban I always try to sneak in a meal at this restaurant. It is probably due to the experience and company around the Tepinyaki preparation and 'performance'. The performance is what I requested the chef to perform for the kids - which apart from the food, they thoroughly enjoyed. Kids enjoy the simple things in life - like... More

Visited Daruma with friends for the second time. Its one of Durban greatest eating experiences. Having the Chef prepare the meal in front of you is the experience on its own. Overall, the food is delicious, great and safe location, people are great, and the atmosphere they create is just perfect!

What was supposed to be a great evening turned out horrific as we found a huge insect in a cacoon in our food. The manager apologised and said it was the first time as if it mattered. The hygiene is pathetic yet the prices are so much more than your average family restaurant and what is worse is that we... More
