This restaurant was recommended to us, but when we got there it had few customers and passive service. The food was good and it was nice to sit and relax after a morning of touring.

I love places like this. Great institutions (the oldest restaurant and bar in Pretoria I am told), a little faded perhaps, but still serving good, tasty food (in this case, Mitteleuropa, bockwurst on rye bread and the like) in a charming and cosy atmosphere. Long may it thrive!

The place is old, which might be great. But my food wasn't much better either! I will definitely not go back.

Beautiful - the oldest, friendliest coffee shop in Pretoria. Perfect for a coffee or cold beer before or after a visit to Church Square. And right next door to the Tourist Information Centre.

Nice spot in downtown to stop for a quick bite of lunch and a beer. Nothing to write home about; service was pretty slow and food was pretty average, but everything was decent enough. The atmosphere inside was nice and "old-timey" and you could also sit outside and look onto the main square and court house.

Well worth a visit if you are near Church Square. Original Art Nouveau decor, feeling of an old style, but authentic pub. A little run down, but still a good place to chill and drink a beer.

When visiting Church Square in Pretoria, leave some time to have a light lunch at this corner cafe / restaurant. This place takes you back in time of the early Pretoria life and with the history all around you concerning Paul Kruger statue, The old "Raadsaal", Palace of Justice and others, you will enjoy your meal and the coffee is... This is right on Church Square with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is inexpensive but good. It is a good place to meet a friend or colleague and talk. The roast beef with mustard sandwich is especially good.
