I have been to South Africa two times and both times have stayed in Bryanston. My goal was to go to a lot of restaurants as the food in SA is unbelievable. I did not want to return to a restaurant more than once as there are so many to try. However, I was at licorish on three occasions, for... More

Had a very tasteful lunch. Service is speedy but the food was really tasty. Starter of duck was well seasoned. Ribeye was tender and well coocked. Food is relatively pricey esp compared to other eateries in the malll.

My favorite restaurant in Johannesburg at the moment. Need to try out the breakfast the menu looks awesome! The oxtail samosas unusual and delicious. Bobotie spring rolls great concept and tasty. Enjoy the tasting platters but you need a starter otherwise you could be left wanting more. The desserts are incredible. Lamb shank korma was better than expected and good... More

Not my usual stamping ground. Arrived to find a smart, glitzy mall, reminding me of those upmarket ones on the edges of American suburbia. I phoned to book a table after 7.30 on a public holiday and was told the kitchen closed at 8.30 but they'd keep open for us. Very impressive! Service was keen, the food arrived quickly. My... More

The food is amazing and the waiters are friendly and well trained. Try the bunny chow. It is the best I have had in JHB.

We had the fresh juice drinks and loved the fact of them being fresh and healthy. We had starters only as we had already had a light snack elsewhere. The waiters were friendly and knowledgable. The food as always was fantastic. Well made, the right flavours and fresh. A great Afro-fusion restaurant

We had a business lunch at the Licorish Bistro and it which was a great choice. Everyone ordered something different; hollandaise fillet, sirloin with bone marrow, grilled salmon, grilled kingship, and more. Each dish was truly flavoursome and the beef so tender, it "melts" in your mouth. They pay great and equal attention to presenation, as they do to preparation... More

Had the most delicious breakfast at Licorish. One of our guests is Vegan - no problem, manager Richard (also called the Fashion Guru) and Lango our server, immediately arranged a soy latté and prepared a scrumptious vegan meal. Their restroom was ultra clean. This little bistro gets my vote for restaurant of the year. PS: Try their bobotie samosas, and... More
