This is our favorite Don Jose location. The staff is pleasant and the service is very good. The food comes out hot and within a really reasonable time. Everything from the salads to the fajitas is really delicious. And they have menu items that are just the right size for seniors that don't cost a bundle. And sometimes you get... More
Alaska is known for their seafood obviously and not for Mexican cuisine, but if you're a Southern Californian like my husband and I, we can't go very long without our Mexican food "fix". We've eaten at this restaurant each time we've visited Homer, and I would recommend.
In no way can the food be considered authentic, fresh, or of high quality. Having been to this restaurant several times, I've realized that it is a waste of time and money. I suppose it is the only option for slightly Mexican style food in this area, but I'd rather go without than eat what tastes like frozen chile relleno... More
We ate and drank at Don Jose's recently and it was delicious. Carla made the best margarita's. We had the calamari to start, best calamari ever. Dinner was also excellent. Burrito's were super. Great service. Plus our friends paid the bill, we'll treat them next summer. Our annual get together at Jose's.
This place does a nice job on Mexican food. If you need a break from seafood, I would recommend this place. We had the enchilada's trio (one of 3 different kinds) and they were great. Drinks are a bit pricey, but the food is always good.

The lettuce tasted a bit old. Also it was pretty expensive but I do think most things in Homer are more expensive than Anchorage... More
We decided to try this Don Jose's since we know the one in Anchorage is good. Badly disappointed. The manager stayed behind the bar and did not do very much managing or helping out when the restaurant was very busy. We had a new waitress that was not at all trained and we waited for everything from the time we... More
