The lighting and ambiance is really not relaxing at all. My husband and I ate our meal and left right away.

La Cascada is a Steakhouse restaurant, one of the oldest in the country. They have any kind of meat you want, in a very classy environment. This place is visited everyday by politics, important business people and entertainers. It's a rather small place, maybe they have like 20-30 tables, however is real cozy. You will get your meat with a... More

Arrive hungry - food is good and the portions are HUGE. I was full after the shrimp appetizer - 7 large shrimp. (see photo) Ordered the tenderloin medallions expecting 2 and a platter arrived full (at least 6 medallions). Food was well prepared, excellent service, helpful and attentive waiters!

The restaurant has really good meals. The "ceviches" as entrée are really good, fresh made tortillas, home made hot sauce and "chimichurri". Don't understimate the restaurant because of the furniture, the thing is that IS the concept they want to keep. That was how the old-fashined Costa Rican restaurants used to be. The meats are good, huge serving sizes, they... More

Simply, the best meal I had in my entire trip to this beautiful country! Recomended: seabass "ceviche", rollizo (steak) and coconut flan.

La Cascada has been a traditional restaurant in Costa Rica, I remember since I was a little kid, that I used to go there with all my family, and the funny thing is that, everytime I go there, they remember my name, the ask for my parents and my sisters, by name! And I asked my waiter, for how long... More

I love to eat, and this place treated me well. It was a little pricey. Eating alone, I had a shrimp cocktail, a half-bottle of wine, and a tenderloin - 35000 colones, about 61 bucks ($18 for the steak!) The service was amazing, as the professional server seemed honored to help me con mi español.

La Cascada has an interesting story. It began several decades ago, and it was THE place for a great steak. People waited even hours to eat here. It went through some tough times - the prices went up, the quantity and quality went the other way. It seems their chef bailed out on them. I dared to visit La Cascada... More

We took a drive from Doubletree Cariari to La Cascada Restaurant, we heard it was good. We were NOT dissapointed!! 360 gram tenderloin is the house special, grilled or BBQ'd, with baked potato, and vegatables. The steak was melt in your mouth great trimmed to perfection. No fat or grisel, just all mouth watering goodness! Price around 12000 colonies. Highley... More
