A few weeks ago I was going through some personal issues just the kind of stuff that puts you in a bad mood you know, well I find myself running around town and I stoped at el Escape for a beer water and something to...eat. As I’m there Kathiyushkha came and took my order, and I must have had this sad look because she came back and started to chat with me and even though she didn’t have to she made a little bit of time to make my day a little brighter. This is truly the type of service that makes a place great. Thank you Kathiyushka for all your great vibes service is keyMore

We had lunch there two days in a row. I ordered the catch of the day. Their vegetables were cooked just like I like them - crunchy on the inside, soft a bit on the outside, warm, and seasoned well. Their salad was fresh. We...ate at the bar. Good service.More

Always love to go to a local restaurant where you see lots of Ticos eating there too. The fish (Mahi) was very fresh, the prices reasonable and the staff really friendly. We will go back again when we are in the area. Hope they get...a better online reservation system but not a deal breaker (maybe WhatsApp?)More

We took the catch of the day and went for the grilled tuna. Excellent! and ordered plenty of vegetables with it. Products are of good quality and the place is not only for tourists, although seemingly the price is quite high for locals

Amidst the endless overpriced tourist joints all serving the same El Gran Escape has for a long time been a cut above. Ok, it's in Quepos but sometimes you just have to get out of the tourist zone. Mostly typical Costa Rican. A lot of...seafood. My wife had the special, a huge dish with gigantic prawns the size of small lobsters. I had a cassado. Two glasses of Chilean sauvignon Blanca and two imperial and the bill came to under $50 Canadian. Compare with over $100 in Manuel Antonio. The food was tasty for CR. Did you come for the sabor? The atmosphere is great, open air, warm, over the street from thr Malecon, booths and tables, attentive waiter. Sure, the taxi driver tried to get 5,000 Colones out of us for our trip back to the hotel. We said NO and paid 4000.More

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch. Had a few drinks and I ordered the jumbo shrimp and he ordered the chicken. When our food came out we immediately thought the meals didn't look appetizing. My jumbo Shrimp were cooked as whole and only...cut down the middle, with eyes and everything still attached. My boyfriends food looked very bland. The chicken was boiled with nothing else on it. We told the waiter the we were not happy and didn't want to eat the meals. He went and spoke with the cook which is also the owner. He said we didn't have to eat it but we still had to pay for it. The meal was over $50 and we still went somewhere else for a better meal. DO NOT EAT HERE! waste of money and experience while you are in a beautiful town with way more options! The only up side to this visit is we could take our alcoholic drinks to-go.More
