We ate here a couple of times during our stay in Montezuma. The food was simply wonderful and there were plenty of vegan options. If you can, try to stop in during happy hour (3 - 5 pm, I believe) for discounted drinks and appetizers. The pina colada and anything made with their homemade coconut milk is highly recommended!

Loved the chicken & rice dish - quite tasty & comes with patacones & side salad. Deee-licious mocha chocolate "Chiller"....made with fresh homemade coconut milk (sorta like a milkshake but it's a healthy version). They also have incredibly fabulous homemade gourmet healthy chocolates - a truly wonderful treat to pleasure your tastebuds !

After a few days in Montezuma, or weeks in Costa Rica, and you can't stand Casado, burritos, rice and plantain anymore, you'll find here some alternatives. We both had the catch of the day, my husband with a creamy shrimp sauce and mine with jalapeño. It was an all right change but nothing to remember fondly. And bloody expensive!

Stopped in here for lunch and shared a gazpacho and a quesadilla with my travel partner. Both were quite tasty, as were the juices we ordered. Would definitely go back.

You can either eat indoors in the fan cooled room or carry on through to the rear pebbled garden with the water fountain where birds regularly come to drink and some will eat from your hand. There is plenty of choice for vegans, vegetarians and those who require a gluten free meal all clearly marked on the menu so no... More

First of all, thank you for taking the time to write a review. Perhaps I can clarify a few things. El Sano Banano was the first restaurant in Montezuma, it opened in 1989 and since then we have been doing our best to keep up with the cost of living. It is no secret that over the years our beautiful... More

Absolutely incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are nice but there are no windows to open. Other than that I will highly recommend it.

I ate dinner here twice and breakfast once, and I'd come back again if I were still in town! The curry dishes are excellent and have a central American flair, and I was impressed with the avocado spring rolls. The staff are understanding and accommodating, and helped me modify menu items to my dietary needs without losing the chef's vision... More

Just spent 3 days here and really liked it. A great value with perks from it's sister resort a short walk (10 minutes) away. Free full breakfast included and the restaurant here is really good. Located in the middle of the village too.
