Difficult time rating this place, so 3/5 it is. They have truly awesome view of the sunset over the bay, some delish drinks and dishes, friendly bar servers. However, it is pricy for what you get and you would expect a more organized operation, a better trained waiter staff and an overall smoother experience at this price point. We kept... More

We went to Barba Roja for dinner one night during our stay in Manuel Antonio. The food and service were both fine but nothing exceptional. It had a good view for the sunset and the value was good (portions were huge) but I would probably recommend going for drinks at sunset (happy hour 4-6pm) rather than ordering food. Also, there... We stopped by Barba Roja because Paula from Jungle Creek Villas mentioned they run specials on Tuesday nights (4-6pm, I believe) and there is an excellent view of the ocean. We got the 2 for 1 cheeseburgers with fries deal. The burgers were excellent and the fries were good. The view was beautiful! I would definitely go back for the... More

Great view of the ocean and sunset plus excellent food for our first day in Manuel Antonio/Tulemar. Can't go wrong, although a bit pricey.

Food was alright and tasted fine, good but not exceptional. Service was a bit slow. Tropical drinks were watered down and even during happy hour were expensive. Food was super expensive, especially the sashimi. 17 thin little pieces for ₡12,000 ($22). I wouldn't make an issue of it except they were extremely thin slices. If you doubled up the pieces,... This was definitely one of the more local feeling restaurants we ate at while in Manuel Antonio. Beautiful setting to watch the unbelievable sunsets. They have happy hour (2 for 1 drinks) and the food (which I didn't have high expectations for) was very good. My husband had the crab cakes and I had their version of a chop salad... More

Our 10 yr old son picked Barba Roja because he said it looked cool the few times we had gone past it. Well it did not disappoint! This is a PERFECT spot to view the sunset. The food is what was amazing. We began with sushi rolls, and then each of our meals were really gourmet dinners and so delicious.... More

This place offers 2-for-1 drinks and 2-for-1 burgers on certain weekdays. Plus it has one of the best places to watch the sunset in the area. The staff assumed we only wanted drinks, so it took a while for them to get our order. Our appetizer arrived at the same time as our meal, and we ended up sending it... More
