We went here to check the place out after having seen YouTube vids and other such reviews on this place. We were REALLY disappointed that we wasted our time and money here! The overall place is really nice, with a pool to chill out in,...and a great tiki ambiance. However, I do have serious problems with parents who leave their diapered children to run wild and free thus making all other adults in the area on high alert for their tiny tots well beings! Anyway .... If you're going here to eat ... DON'T! 2 out of 3 of our meals arrived incorrect. A plate of nacho's arrived instead of a sandwich, and plate of rice and squid arrived in place of the rice and shrimp ordered. When I told the waitress / bartender of the incorrect orders that had arrived - I got HUGE attitude and was then being (unsuccessfully) convinced that we should just eat the nacho's as they were cheaper than the sandwich ....!!?? WTF?! REALLY!!?? WOW!! Management - you ought to look into this! Rather than her taking our 2 incorrect meals away, I had to pick these plates up myself and return them to her bar station and plead for the correct orders to please be prepared and brought to us. The one correct meal was then split between the three of us while waiting for the other 2 to be replaced. We can only IMAGINE what must have transpired in the kitchen before these new (originally ordered) meals arrived!! Saying that - the friend that had ordered the rice and shrimp (who got rice and squid and then EVENTUALLY got the corrected shrimp) was sooooooo ill the next day that he was unable to leave the place we were staying at due to severe "stomach issues". Hard to find Immodium down in CR in an emergency. Anyway, I felt INSULTED by the staff there, and was very underwhelmed by the food and the neglectful patrons at this place. WILL NOT RETURN, WILL NOT RECOMMEND!More

We finished eating lunch down the street and decided to walk to this bar. There are a ton of steps to walk up and it is connected to the Best Western but the pool is really nice just for a quick dip. Er bought some...drinks at the bar and then headed in, it's a great place to go to cool off on a hot dayMore

Daneyssa and Nick at the Monkey Bar made our vacation awesome! They both were very friendly and efficient. They made our time here in Tamarindo fun and comforting. They both shared experiences in life in Costa Rica. We will highly recommend the Monkey Bar to...friends and family when they plan there trips to Costa Rica!More

Not all great adventures are planned. Not knowing what to do on our last day of vacation we made our way to walk the streets of Tamarindo from Playa Grande one last time. We noticed a long stair way and a sign to the Crazy...Monkey and were curious. We continued our tour through the shops and made a couple beach bar stops before heading back out of town. We decided to follow our curiosity and to our surprise made our last day the best!! Up on the top is a large bar setting, pool and sun lounging area, swim up pool bar with waterfalls and to our amazement the most beautiful view of the Playa Grande beach we just spent the week on, with the mountains hills in the back ground, breeze in the air and Cuba Libre refreshing drinks in our hands we enjoyed the refreshing pool bar and were glad we took the unknown path of curiosity. They were gearing up for Friday night ladies night party w/ music. Wish we could have stayed I'm sure the sunset and night lights below would have been amazing to see. We will be back again to check that out. Connecting hotel is a Best Western up top. Looks like you could do @ $100+ per night inner room or $200+ per night ocean view suite.More

We came here because we wanted to dance salsa (because most places had rock, hip hop and electronic music). We arrived at 9:00PM (but the salsa band started after 10:00PM. So we decided to wait and listen to the other music they had. At the...entrance, you go up the stairs, pay a $4 cover and arrived at the pool/open area. That area was playing electronic music. Then you go down the stairs and they have a large bar with tables. After you pass the bar, go up the stairs and you have a terrace were a band plays salsa music. As soon as the band started playing we started dancing enjoyed the rest of the band.More

There's a huge difference between fresh and canned. Even though the menu said fresh, the mushrooms on my pizza were canned. No manager at the premises to speak with. The bartender was very nice and it is a great spot for the sunset. Still...

Have been here twice now and both times on a Friday night. Haven't really been here to experience the "restaurant" side of things, but as far as night life goes in Tamarindo, this is the place to be on a Friday night for sure. Divided...down the middle with a salsa band playing on one side and modern DJ on the other. Think there was a $4 cover charge or something, but for all of us usto paying $20 plus at other clubs, this is nothing. This place can get packed on a Friday night no matter what season. The dance floor is located outside and the music is thumping. Started to rain this last time and only added to the awesomeness of the experience. Drinks are reasonably priced. I expected the typical tourist prices most places give you in this area, but the were definitely reasonable. Do not have to worry about long lines at the bar, because there are multiple bars. I believe the only issue we ran into was the cleanliness and availability of bathrooms at this place. Have to keep in mind that there will be long lines to the bathroom usually and when being used by a bunch of people, they can get trashed. Still had a bunch of fun.More

First and foremost, I would like to thank Jennifer and the other young lady at the Front Desk. We owe her and the entire hotel staff extreme debt of gratitude. My partner and I were staying at a local, all inclusive, paid in full week-long...resort down the road. We were having such a horrible experience we decided to check out of the resort early. To make the story short, (review in this case) we ended up here and everyone was so delightful and nice. The cleanliness of the hotel and service were great, attentive. The bartenders are very nice at the restaurant and bar, especially in the mornings. I was sitting at the bar one evening and noticed how disrespectful most of the american tourists were. However, I did also notice the bartenders at night are completely different and know how to handle the crowd. Overall, I respected the fact that when you check-in the first thing they tell you is ***caution Friday's there's ladies night***More

Had some great nights at this place. There are 2 different sections to choose from, one side is salsa music and has a live band, so much fun to watch and if you know how to dance join in but it gets hot in there,...be prepared. Down a few stairs and Separating the two spaces is a long bar and a few scattered tables to hang out at, then up the other side is the outdoor pool area, has huge speakers that play good beats, always a nice breeze and you can gaze up at the stars. The fire shows are really cool to see too!More
