“The food in El Coconut – Tamarindo, Costa Rica is very delicious. The portion is just about the right size but very fulfilling. Katharina and the team made us feel really welcome, not to mention a very good spot where our group had been seated. Beautiful scenery, very good service and great entertainment. The team had an awesome evening over... More

Went here with my husband and his colleagues for a dinner while on a work-sponsored vacation. It was really lovely and far better than where we had lunch (down the road). Decent service, fun music and nice food.

The food is decent but man the nerve they have to charge what they charge. Even by tamarindo overpriced standards this place is a rip-off. There is much better food for a lot less in tamarindo.

Attentive staff. Filet mignon cooked to perfection. Good value for money especially since they also do two courses, including catch of the day and filet mignon, for $25. Previous critics have complained about slow service but we had no problem, the service was at the same tempo as a decent restaurant in the UK. Who wants to rush a nice... More

Wonderful, attentive service. Delicious seafood and sauces to compliment. We were a group of 12, 6 adults and 6 children. We enjoyed lobster, shrimp and fish. All quite wonderful. Cocktails were also lovely.

We had a pleasant meal here, but the service was slow (especially considering the restaurant was near-empty at the time) and the 'whole grilled snapper' (special; not the usual one on the menu) my dining companion had looked good, but turned out to be not-so-fresh and resulted in her having food poisoning - not fun on vacation. Based on the... More

Please do get in contact with me through TripAdvisor or directly on my e-mail: katharina.elcoconut@gmail.com This would be a first in the 15 years I have had the restaurant... As a proud lifelong lobster expert who has eaten them fresh, and steamed them on the beach after diving for them, I have to say that the lobster at El Coconut is one of the best Spiny Lobster I've ever tasted! I suggest pairing it with El Coconut's Argentinian Savignon Blanc! Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere!

We walked to El Coconut for our hotel in Tamarindo. The ambience was inviting and the staff very friendly. We were impressed with the quality of the food, especially the seafood appetizers (mussels, shrimp and avocado). The service could have been quicker especially since the restaurant wasn't packed when we were there.

Thank you for the wonderfull comments on the ambiance as the food :) I am so sorry that you felt the service slow. One of the great challenges we have is receiving so many different nationalities. "North American speed" makes most Europeens feel rushed and the "Europeen speed is too slow for the North Americans. I have to admit that... More

Description
This setting could just as well be in LA or Paris; beautiful teak terracing, all handmade wood furnishing and the shining cobber from the bar and the lamps give that warmth and good feeling we all enjoy. The wait staff takes pride in being members of Team Coconut for years. It is their personalized attention that permits them to remember each client and their likings. Nowhere else will you feel as Welcome and Well attended as here. Every day the same words are repeated "The Client is the King". At El Coconut you will also find a truly professional kitchen where the main ingredients are "Heart & Soul". Who could be able to resist an Avocado filled with sauteed Shrimps, A Tropical Lobster prepared with fresh pineapple, raisins and ginger or not to forget the Surf & Turf even big enough to satisfy the hungriest surfer. Where else in Costa Rica would you find a temperate wine cellar of almost 1000 bottles? Nowhere that we know of. Our wine selection goes from the easy drinking Latin American table wines to finer selections such as Chateau Neuf du Pape, Penfold 389 and many more. Our seating capacity is more than 100. We are used to and truly enjoy arranging your special events; be that "The President's Club", incentive dinners, rehearsal dinners or weddings. Let us make your night that special night.
