Well, if the region is called Paya Grande, the town is in fact quite small and thus has not a wide choice of eateries (especially walking distance). Which means we nearly did them all... We've been at Rip Jack a few times for breakfast (most of hotels in CR don't include it), lunch an dinner. The dining area is simple... More

My family stayed a week in Playa Grande a week and returned to the upstairs restaurant at Hotel RipJack several times. The first 2 times they didn't have fresh ceviche which was a disappointment because of the positive reviews but on the last visit they had it and it didn't disappoint. It was flavorful, fresh, with just the right amount... More

Our family was in Playa Grande for three days but we liked Rip-Jack so much we ate there four times (dinner twice, breakfast, and the 4:00-6:00 PM live music happy "hour". The staff is friendly, the food consistently good, and the drinks were amazing (including the Smoothies).

We ate at Upstairs at the RipJack twice. The food was good but fairly expensive. The service was good. They often have musicians playing in the evening. It is primarily serving visitors from the US and Europe.

upstairs dining with occasional views of interesting birds, howler monkey families and a continual refreshing breeze were the best part. Food was sort of uninspired in spite of attempts to produce clever drink combinations. Happy hour was a better bargain and some of the bocadillos were good. Preparation was so-so and not particularly good value for price.

4-6 1/2 prices on cocktails- great pina colada and watermelon lime basil spritzer. Breakfasts we sampled were the Costa Rican and huevos rancheros both delicious. Always a breeze, helpful bilingual staff and lovely atmosphere.

We ate several times at RipJack - going for dinner and breakfast. The food is totally delicious, really tasty and original. Portions are a little small but this has not deterred us. Service is also super friendly. All that in a lovely setting - the restaurant is located on a breezy terrasse, very spacious. Warmly recommended!

Eddie was our waiter and so very aware of any needs before we asked. Menu is on large chalk boards that are easy to read and understand in English or Spanish. The food is more upper class and reasonably priced. Ask for Eddie, he's the best with a smile to boot!
