I went to this restaurant with a friend for lunch. I'd just been a week in Thailand so I was not too bothered to go for the Thai menu - but Lapis is part of a small cluster of restaurants on 6th 818 Mall from the same group, so a Yunnan Chinese Province menu was also available - Good choice... I have been here already a few times. Food is reasonable priced. The ambience is agreeable and the small terrace you can use for a smoke after food. All the dishes are not very hot but still one can get an idea of the real Thai kitchen.

Enjoyed a pleasant evening in the restaurant, due more to the company than the food. Was sat in the back corner of what looked like a conservatory at the rear of the restaurant. Space was cramped and you had to squeeze past other diners to get out. Not much fun. Food itself was OK - though not outstanding. Felt they... More

We went in a group of 6 on NYE and I was quite happy to speak Thai with one of the staff members who was very polite and advised us good food. The whole crab, jumbo prawns, veg / chicken red curry, fried rice, kai yaang etc., all were made per thai style (though with a bit of South thai... More

I was blown away by the taste and quality of the food here. Granted I'm from Orlando, FL and there are very few good spots there, but the food here was delicious nonetheless. Had the Pad Thai, extra spicy and number 57 with chicken, extra spicy. I didn't want the food to end. It was perfectly prepared and even with... More

I have been there four times and every time I have sworn not to go back. The food is okay to good. We were in a group and on arrival my wife and I were taken aside and asked to pay when the food arrived which seemed a bit off. To cut a long story short, despite a very empty... More

It was pouring outside and we were seated in a huge sofa which was super cozy. The foods were delicious and not so spicy. The drinks were pretty strong.

For the lunch it was interesting. Not too much people, nice music and very good green curry. Large space and jazz music the evening. But not sure it is plenty of people the evening...

When you feel boring about the China Food, there are many alternatives in Shanghai. We love Thaifood and have to say, Yes …. in Lapis Thai, the really serve authentic Thaifood, the way we love. In Thai … aroi mak mak and also pet mak mak, means spicy, at the case you like that way. Nice decoration and atmosphere, not... More

Have been there when staying at Portland Ritz Carlton in Shanghai. Not open until late, unfortunately. Still, service is professional (but a bit 'cold' for Asian standards) and try and accommodate your requests. Green curry is very good. Not the cheapest in town, but it is not surprising given the location.

Description
In July 2014, Lapis Thai together with Le Viet, Vietnamese and French cuisine, and
Salmos Sky Lounge, the largest urban air garden bar, to enter 1788 Square of Shanghai. It aims to be the new landmark of Shanghai center with the 1,800 square meters’ flagship store. The mixed use of a variety of building materials and the special design creates a compromise taste of the modern atmosphere and elegant humanistic spirit. The former spacious room which could accommodate up to 1,200 people has redesigned to open compartments for 10 people’s parties or hundreds of people’s large-scale events. The outdoor dining area, swimming pool, Sky Bar, the exclusive 3D Mapping and the 7 meters large projection, etc. could overlook Shanghai's scenery. It could be the best choice for wedding, party, business entertainment.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
