Turned up on my first day in Shanghai, expecting amazing things from this restaurant, but upon arrival was greeted coldly and taken upstairs to a stark, horrible table facing a wall that - quite frankly - could’ve been in a shopping mall. However, the main issue...was with the incredibly rude and disinterested staff who were more concerned with talking to themselves than serving guests. When I asked if they had dumplings, they all laughed at me like I was some kind of fool. It was embarrassing and humiliating and I left immediately. I have never felt like this at any restaurant on the planet. So terribly disappointed.More

The waiter was helpful to make sure that the kitchen adjusted the dishes to have more flavour because Shanghainese food is quite bland, and we were more accustomed to spicier food. We were quite happy with the food and all reasonably priced.

Ordered all of the recommended dishes on the menu that we thought we might enjoy and thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them! Claypot chicken and crab with rice cake (nian gao) as well as the crunchy appetizer eel are highly recommended! Veggies were nice...too!More

Great central location near the Bund. No need to book, we waited maybe 10/15 minutes to be seated. Great lively atmosphere, traditional Chinese but with English translations on the menu which is always very helpful as eating out in China as a non-Chinese speaking vegetarian...can be challenging! Would highly recommend a visit if in the area.More

This is a cash only local place with lines out the door and for good reason. The food comes fast and is very tasty. There is an English menu if you need it. Everything we ate was wonderful. We had the fried crisp chicken (I...could eat a whole one as they are skinny), beef broccoli with garlic, the fried rice with egg and for dessert the absolutely best pumpkin rolls which were light and fluffy and melted in your mouth. Even the green tea was good. There are bathrooms upstairs. We went back several times. I wish there was a branch in our town!More

Close to the Bund, within walking distance. Pretty authentic Shanghainese food at a low price. Quick service as well.

Very busy and there was a queue when I arrived but only waited about 10 mins to be seated. The food was good and reasonably priced. The staff spoke English. Convenient location just off the Bund and found it by chance.

Service is quick, and the turn over is fast. This is a not a place to linger and chat. The food was excellent, and the price was good. Long lines, but they are efficient. I would return again.

I saw no one who looked like a Grandmother there BUT the food was very good and the price was right. Had it been on Nanjing Road, the cost would have been double.

4 of us ate for about $40 usd. The food was very good. Menu has photos and English wording to help selecting. Large selection to choose from. The beer was cheaper than the soda!

Slightly off the main tourist area but very accessible from Nanjing East Rd. If you want to experience chinese food which is not hawker fare and in a local restaurant setting, I would recommend you give this place a try. With the variety available, you...will be hard pressed not to order more than you can finish. We were happy with the 3 dishes we ordered and only wished we had more time to return and sample more! Will certainly visit again in our next trip. (ps. the menus are bilingual, Chinese and English)More

The food was really nice. Portions were not massive (but still quite large) as in other restaurants which for me was a plus. Menu was translated in English. Close to the bund but not a touristic restaurant. Highly recommended.
