Great tasting food at very affordable prices, but the catch is there is no one to help you(in English), should you require some assistance in selecting your dishes. I brought an app that translates from English to Chinese and vice versa, however, the translation is not good enough, so there was a lot of laughing and waiting.

Plenty of excellent seafood, meat and vegetables dishes from which to choose. Everything we tried was very good and no complaints about the service. We reserved a private room, which gave us quiet privacy and additional care from the staff. For the quality, this is a good value as well.

Very tasty food, huge portions, big choice. A bit overprised in Shanghai level comparison. Service is not perfect, but everything worked out. It is unfortunately a smoking restaurant - but even that did not make it a bad experience. Super seafood and recommended by colleagues - and I agree.

If authentic Chinese is what you are looking for this is the place. Very little English. Menu's have pictures fortunately so you can pick. Beside the stuff you would normally avoid Ablone and Jelly Fish or everything with head on! This place goes further there's pigs kings and penus and chicken's feet. This place is for the real adventurist looking... More

I've been two times in Shanghai (one month each) and very often I went to Qianlong Food Restaurant. Here my opinion. PROS: Great food, cheap, city centre located, live seafood to choose. CONS: Same room for smokers and no smokers area. Highly reccomended!

We came here with a family of 6, got a very nice menu with some lovely pictures and English text. We ordered several dishes and some rice. We never got the rice.. Half of the dishes were only mildly warm and tasted terrible. The soup was sour and to cover this up they used a ton of salt. The dishes... More

I found this restaurant by chance I given it a try since most of the customers were Chinese. The restaurant is clean , the food is good and serverbed in big portions. The service is very bad and not customer oriented. no-one speaks English therefore it is easy to get things you do not want. The waiters seems not interested... More

You won't recognize Qian Long Mei Shi from its name unless you can read Chinese, as there are no signs in English, but as you go down Huanghe Street, you will be hustled into places like Yue Li Restaurant with very big lighted signs that are easy to spot. Ignore the hustler, and go very fast to the other side... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
