Selection is fantastic, quality is fine. Nothing to write home about, I'd say I'll probably be here every now and again if I lived in Shanghai because of convenience and variety. Ordered some sushi rolls (ok), fried chicken (fine), rice (very good steamed rice), miso soup (rubbish), sausage (good), Yunnan bottled beer (fantastic), Warsteiner on draft (was brought beer water... Had dinner with 9 people, both the food and service were excellent. The waiter had many tables but we never felt a lack of attention.

Enjoyed a lovely selection of dishes with lots of flavour. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The lighting is a bit dim which gives atmosphere, only a bit difficult to read menu.

since my first visit not much has changed. The restaurant is generally dark, except a few tables. You hardly see with WHOM and WHAT you eat and drink. The service is a bit sluggish but friendly. Food quality is good in general

Always interesting to experience places with lots of expats and international crowds, but when trying to order a menue, it seems complicated to understand. :) This is, however, part of the experience and the food is outstanding. Menues have photos of the meals which makes it easy to select, the service is prompt and friendly. Whether you are a large... More

Make sure you have a reservation. Place is full all the times. Food is good with vary choices on a menu. Service is good and attentive. Wine list is well done with price what would not break your wallet. Restaurant itself is situated in lovely area. Really nice place to have a lunch when you can see trees outside. Coming... More

Loved this place, we had one of our best meals of our trip in China here. The place specializes in Yunnan cuisine. Good, extensive menu (well translated into English), excellent food, good service. Highly recommended!

This place is a must if you are looking for Chinese Typical Dishes! Presentation is just awesome, flavors are great, service is really good (speak english) You will find a wide variety of dishes from different parts of China. If you can make a reservation before is better, but place is big enough. Decoration is other thing to mention in... More

The restaurant is located in the heart of Shanghai and recommended to spend time during dinner with friends. It came with very lifely atmosphere and decent Yunnan food. Nevertheless, the food is a bit pricy here.

This place is one out of the box. It is elegant and refined - a treat to savour fine dining & fine service. The wine list is not extensive, and not cheap.......and weakened further by not having the wine i had taken 10 minutes to choose. Grrrrrr. But that aside, we enjoyed a lovely meal, in a serene setting -... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
