Very efficient yet clinical. The food was good, fresh and pleasing in a pedestrian environment that needs loosening up if they want to attract more people who enjoy their food. The staff were technical and unfriendly though, to be fair, it may be a language barrier .

Truffle and chicken dim sum is recommended. Not only dim sum, but all other dishes are very tasty. Shrimps and crab meet could be skipped. Good and fast service.

They have several Din Tai Fung restaurants in Los Angeles. But none are as good as coming to the mother ship. Not a fancy place. Just damned good dumplings.

It is a chain yes, however the quality and diversity of the dumplings is great. Realy enjoyed having dinner here, even though interior of the restaurant is not so nice.

This is still my favorite place for dumplings in Shanghai. The quality of food and service is on an excellent level over all the years since its opening. The sweet and sour soup as a starter, the hairy crab dumlings.. just great. Try the standard pork dunplings to start, go for black truffle dumplings next.. Easy to order with all... More

This place has an amiable atmosphere, lovely food, conveniently located, however it's a bit pricey though.

I came for lunch with a work colleague. Naturally we ordered the Shanghai soup dumplings along with a beef soup. Both were simple yet tasty and delivered to our table in short order. I've naturally had better dumplings in HK but this place is decent to get your fix. I find it humorous that in SoCal, one has to wait... More

This center is simply too pricey even for quality brand goods. You can bargain the price and get discounts but still you have to pay much more than elsewhere in Shanghai. If you anyway find something you would like to purchase and have negotiated a resonable price, be lucky if they accept a credit card. They did not take Visa... More

Ordered siu long bao, a vege dish and plain rice. Food was fast. Siu long bao was ok (cannot compare with those u got in a local store). Only... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
