Well, Ding Tai Fung is good, there is no question. But it seems a bit overpriced and is not a very comfortable place to spend an evening.

Had lunch here in the Xintiandi outlet mall. The dumplings, fried rice and spring rolls were excellent. We also had the most delicious steamed pork bun of our entire trip. Very inexpensive too. Especially for food cooked to order.

These are the best dumplings in China, it never changes. The location does not matter, as this restaurant is consistently great.

My wife and I were taken here by our daughter and it really was a top quality experience. We only had dumplings but the rest of the food coming out looked excellent.

Excellent choice for people not looking to spend the Earth in Shanghai and wanting great food. Service is great. Dumplings are probably the best around I’ve eaten and I’ve eaten around the world.

The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a
carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled
with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area
below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most
fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can
afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and
shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park
provides the area with green space and is also home to

Ding Tai Fung does not post their prices online. The queue could be long during meal times, however, they would give you a menu to order ahead of time. This list would indicate the prices to you. It may be slightly more... More
