On my recent trip to Shanghai for a Vendor's Conference, I was craving for Indian Food & upon a quick search, found the 2 Veda's Indian Restaurant locations. I decided to visit the Hongqiao branch with my American Customer. The food was great, everything I...ordered from Tandoori Lamb Chops to Black Dal to Garlic Naans & Tandoori Chicken was delicious followed by hot Gulab Jamuns. Very authentic tasting food, very similar tasting to the food we get back home - in India. The decor of the Restaurant is 'Warm Colourful' giving a relaxed feel. The service was exceptional, the servers gave me good company in interacting with me in Hindi. I learnt that the Manager is from my hometown. Even my American Customer was very happy & satisfied. Very happy with the experience & will definitely return again. It is also a nice place to have Dinner Meetings.More
I never realised the distance to this restaurant from my Hotel at Pudong. It took more than 40 minutes to reach and hundreds of RMBs, looking for a decent dining experience with Indian vegetarian cuisine. The ambience was very poor with old furniture
Firstly, it’s a great location on the Hongqiao side of Shanghai - right at the Hongqiao International Pearl City. Food is excellent and tasty - good options for vegetarians too. The service is very good. Definitely a restaurant worth visiting.
Well I read this is the best Indian Shanghai has to offer. If that’s the case they set a pretty low bar. Priced high you expect great service and top quality ingredients. I got neither, lack lustre service and poor quality. The chicken was the...best cut tenders and I had a feeling to could have been old dried up older chicken. I had onion baji and I have to say quite tasteless. Chicken madras ok but like I say poor old chicken. A bit disappointed with the total package.More

Visited Vedas looking for Indian food. Was a good experience overall with service and food. Felt like home in Shanghai.
I went to Vedas for dinner during a recent business trip. I enjoyed the food so much that I returned for a second meal a few days later. I particularly liked the Dal.
We have been to Vedas many times and it never disappoints. The service is fantastic, a terrific menu, and they never bat an eye when you ask to take home leftovers. Try the fried okra starter it's addictive! And treat yourself to the house version...of a dark and stormy for a great twist on a classic cocktail. Love Vedas!More
