A spanking new outlet by the Royal China group, understated elegance decor and amazing food, right opposite Indigo Deli, Colaba in Dhanraj Mahal. Delicious food, great service

RMB15 for 12 xiaolongbao made on the spot is good value, particularly when it's also delicious! Must have been my lucky day since I was the 3rd person in queue upon getting there and 10 minutes later while waiting for my serving the queue was at least 15 people long. Be prepared to share tables with others as there only... More

Maybe we went on a bad day? but boy, the xiao long pao's were horrible. We ordered the crab roe ones and they were fishy. We tried one and had to throw the rest away.

This place was great. You can watch them make the dumplings fresh from scratch behind a window in the restaurant. About 8 tables and you can sit with other people and share their table if needed. One word of advice -- the menu is very sparse and when you order say a "pork dumpling" you're actually ordering a plate of... More

I was at this shop about 7 years ago. I remember the super value for money eating here. In 2017, i still think its value for money eating here. The steam dumpling is piping hot when it came. The soup that is in the dumping is so sweet and with the cold and raining weather in Shanghai, the food tasted... More

Many people recommended this place so I tried. It is very local and delicious. Only CNY30 for 12 dumplings. Or CNY99 for the premium crab meat version. Not many seats inside so be sure to avoid peak hours.

You can believe all the positive reviews. This place was awesome and lived up to my expectations. It was a little hard to find (because Google was locating me correctly) but I did eventually find it. I arrived here on a saturday about 12:30 pm. This is a small place with seating for about 60 around very small tables that... More

Delicious soupy buns. The place is tiny and the line will be put the door. So, arrive early (they open at 7am). There are two other important pieces of info I can provide...1) pay the extra 2CNY for the ginger and vinegar. 2) how to eat these delicious buns...bite a tiny hole in the bun and suck out the soup.... OK so you've read the reviews and the dumplings are very good. Here is what you may need to know to get the most from your experience: -The restaurant is a hole in the wall and just a tiny step above eating on the street -This location has about 8 tables and most seat 6 on small wooden stools. If... More

I never eat the soup dumplings in New York because they are such a disappointment! This was my first time at Jia Jia Tang Bao (recommended to me from my friend who had just returned from Shanghai) and it completely lived up to the hype. I usually go to NanXiang Restaurant in YuYuan when I visit Shanghai, but there are... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
