Fat fish is a sea food specialty open restaurant located on Arpora - Calangute road. Being on the main road next to most of the happening beaches , this place is generally crowded. There is ample car parking available. Variety and choices on the menu are excellent and service is efficient. Menu offered is competitively priced and reasonable for the quality and quantity being offered. Food was good , but nothing out of the world....! Plenty of live catch was on display....Ambiance was good and worth a try any time.....!

I visited early evening. Service was good and both waiters who served me were attentive and welcoming. Prawn Fry was excellent. Crab in a dark coconut Goan curry was tasty but a little messy to eat. Loved the fresh garlic naan.

On our very first day in Goa, we stopped at Fat Fish for a very late lunch around 4 in the afternoon as we were travelling by car from Bengaluru. We were hoping to try out their thali as it is very famous for but unfortunately we could not as it was not available post 3:30 PM. So we decided to sulk for a while and order what we thought was the next set of best options for us. We had the following while we were at Fat Fish.
For starters we had the King Fish Tawa Fry, the masala was spot on, the fish was really well cooked and the quantity was decent as well. It is served with potato wedges and some salad as well.
For the main course we had two dishes which were based on Prawns. First was the Prawns Curry Rice, the curry was authentic Goan style, with the perfect blend of spices and decent amount of prawns as well. The white steam rice was cooked well and it was sufficient for two people.
We ended the main course with Prawns Biryani which had to be one of the best biryanis in Goa during our trip. The spicy masala, the well cooked rice, the perfection in the prawns and the quantity all in all was just excellent. You have to try this out when you are at Fat Fish.
The Lychee Likey is a mocktail based on Lychee and it was super refreshing as well. This was surprisingly a really good drink.
Planter’s Punch is a rum based cocktail and it was served in a big glass and was made to perfection as well. Cocktails in Goa generally cost a lot and it is always better to spend on regular drinks than trying out fancy cocktails if you don’t want to weigh a lot on your expenses.
There is ample parking space available at Fat Fish and the place can be pretty occupied most of the time. The staff is friendly, the washroom is clean, the service is pretty fast, and the ambiance is amazing. You can find them at H/4/267/D, Ward 4, Agar Vaddo, Baga, Goa.
Budget Corner
Kingfish Tawa Fry – 580 INR
Prawns Curry Rice – 550 INR
Prawns Biryani – 500 INR
Lychee Likey – 300 INR
Bira White Pint – 180 INR
Planter’s Punch – 350 INR
Average cost for two people would be 2,500 – 3,000 INR inclusive of alcohol.

My wife and I have previously visited this restaurant several times and always been impressed with the food .
We therefore decided to take my sister and her friend and also some friends for a meal .
We ordered starters which were ok although my sister ordered mussels that she did mention was rather salty .
The mains then followed . Unfortunately all 6 dishes were salty to the point they were inedible . We mentioned it to one of the waiters and invited him to taste one the dishes and he also agreed it was very salty . He got a manager to come over .
His attitude was very poor . He did offer to remake the meal but by this time none of wanted that . Not once did he apologize and was very arrogant . When the bill came there was no concession for the awful meal we had been served and whilst I didn't expect it for nothing I did feel they could of made a token gesture .
All I can say is we will not be returning and not only do I suggest your chef needs to dramatically reduce his use of salt but most importantly you need to train your manager in the art of customer service .
I include a picture which shows a table of uneaten food. AVOID AT ALL COST !!!

Located on the calangute - baga road, Fat Fish is a common name for tourists as well as locals in that area. It is occupied most of the time. It has an all time loud music so not recommended for people who like their meal in peace. The dishes are very well presented and sets your tastebuds wanting for more. Do try their various fish options. Recommended.

Well , this was my second visit in 4 years here and nothing has changed... the food , the ambience all the same . I see some people mentioning wait time and late service but that is all because it is so popular that even on a weekday afternoon there is waiting . We visited here again in 3rd week of September and had luckily had to wait only for 5 minutes . For food we barely waited for 15-20 minutes which is a decent wait period . Their fish thali is the most famous which I will highly recommend but their King fish curry , oh my , I stayed in goa for 10 days and had fish curry at least 4 times in total but nothing beats their fish curry .
Definitely recommended .

Travel without local food , is injurious to fulfilment of tour. And Goa is famous for its cuisine, made up of Cokum and coconut with fresh sea products, crab, squid , and variety of sea fishes.
The restaurant Fat Fish was suggested to us by the driver of our taxi when we asked him where good Goan Non-Veg food was available. It is near Baga and was not far from our hotel. The restaurant opens at around 12 noon.
We reached around 12.30 pm for lunch. We were lucky to grab the last table. The huge dining hall was already full to the brim. We were amazed to see that there was continuous inflow of eaters. A big bodied person had to stand at the entrance as a door stopper to control the ever increasing crowd. Then we saw that a lady came out with a pad to note down the names serially.
The Jam packed hall was live with hungry crowd, Goan song and aroma of food around, mixed with sultry smell of live fish. We placed the order for our lunch and waited patiently for it to arrive. The statement of the house is very clear, at least half an hour waiting period, after placement of order. We found that it was justified, because each and every dish needed individual preparation time and process, which is desirable.
The Menu card was a unique one, it serially listed the names of the items. But we found it difficult to understand the names. You can see the same in the Photo of a page I am presenting here. But the waiter was good and he translated the names to us. We ordered Goan Seafood thali, and he explained the meaning of every dish. Menu card does not contain the rate of each and every item, like lobsters. A fresh live piece is brought from the aquarium and cooked when ordered and the rate of the dish depends on the size of it.
The food was extremely tasty and each item had a unique taste…it was worth the waiting time for the food to arrive.
Foods we enjoyed no doubt, but sitting there for an hour in a crampy hall with noise of people talking, over and above the loud music makes the taste of the food pale .

We visited this restaurant on 16th feb 2020 for a lunch. We ordered chicken cafreal, fish thali and prawns vindaloo.. The quality of food is really nice. Fish thali was awesome with distinct flavours in each dish in it. Second best was chicken cafreal which we tried for the first time. The restaurent has casual sitting with nice music playing in background. The restaurent was full to its capacity when we reached and soon fish thalis were over as it is available in limited numbers only. The service is good. Food is reasonably priced. Must try for the authentic goan food.

Heard a lot about this place, so went for lunch once. This place is just overhyped. Nothing special about this place. Just a normal restaurant.
Food quality is just ok. Quantity is good. But their customer service is not at all good, which is most important factor in this sector. Staffs are not professional, may be the place is overhyped & people are going, that’s why they don’t care about customer service.
The day we visited, no one was at reception. Few seats were available, so we took the seats ourselves. Even after calling the staffs for menu, they were just not paying attention. Staffs were just standing but not paying attention to new customers.
There are many other restaurants which are much more better than this place & serving much better quality of food & service ( a must try place is Brittos - Baga beach )

I remember visiting this place when it was relatively new. And I went there in Apr21 with the same hopes, however we had to wait for more than 20mins and after being seated we waited for another 40mins for the food to arrive. LoL
The thali was sold out and the food we got after waiting for like an hour was very average. There are better places in Goa which serve amazing food. Not visiting fat fish in near future unless I see any upgrade in food and services.

Worst place and food.
I don't understand why everyone is giving good review about ambience and food, basically its near the main road(with lots of traffic noise and pollution) . so much waiting time even though they have plenty of space and sitting area . Service is also very slow. We waited for 40 min for the food to arrive. Food was served cold and it was tasteless because it lacked very basic ingredient know as SALT. A hindi phrase 'naam bade aur darshan chote' is perfectly fit for 'fat fish'.
SPECIAL NOTE: I don't like to waste a lot but this was the first time in my life that we wasted almost 80% of the food on the table. This is very sad.

Fat Fish.... heard a lot about it and so had to try it this time , fantastic lip smacking kingfish rawa fry , fish thali , prawn curry and pitcher beer , swift and efficient service , be there exactly at 1230 pm to avoid waiting , lot of variety on menu , each one is as good with generous portions . Add it up to your bucket list , not to be missed at all when in Goa !!

My husband and I came to Fat Fish during the week for lunch. We ordered the seafood platter and we’re blown away by the taste! The seafood is some of the best we have ever eaten. We had to wait about 20 minutes which was fine as the waiter explained they have to properly wash, clean and cook the seafood fresh.
Do yourself a favour and order the cheesy garlic naan - probably the best we have had in India! The service is 5 star and they are incredibly attentive to your every need. It’s such a nice clean venue! 5 stars! Get in early for lunch as it it’s packed by 1pm
