We were at Pousuda for lunch on a beautiful windy and somewhat cloudy day and had an amazing experience looking out at the silvery sea and the shrubbery that they have carefully retained between the restaurant and the beach. The charming host Neville personally helped us (and all guests) to place orders for great cocktails and Goan food. We had a long, lazy afternoon with some interesting conversation with the host. The rest of Neville's team including his son were quietly and efficiently attentive. Everything about the place has that lovely old Goa feel to it, something that is increasingly difficult to find. One of the Chai & Biscuit canine duo had just recently passed....Overall a place with character and a great feel to it. Hope to visit again some day.

Just a couple of feet from the beach loes a hidden gem. Be careful you could easily miss it. And ignore the map when walking directions access is from the beach.
While mayhem ensues on the beach here you will find a beautiful restaurant with great food service and tranquility.
We let the host Neville choose for us Goan fish curry and prawns with rice and bread. Excellent food well spiced and devoured in seconds by two hungry souls.
The restaurant could easily pass as an ancient temple with the classy but simple decor.
Highly recommend.

My family & I visited Pousada after a dear friend recommended the place. What a delight this place is, the food is wholesome and delicious and a meal here takes you back to being in quaint little family-owned businesses. Beautiful views of the sea and a perfect quiet spot to watch the sunset and sip on sangrias. A huge shout out to the proprietors who are on their feet and actively involved in running the restaurant, every silly question answered and every tiny request fulfilled. A definite "not to miss" spot in Goa. PS: my husband and daughter had visited them for dinner and they were kind to escort them to their car in the dark. I mean who does these things lately, really warm, good, kind people. I wish them the best... I wish I had photos but we kinda gobbled it all up before we could click pictures. That's the first sign of good food served up!

Every day is a new day, and every guest we host is special; we never take any of our guests for granted.
There is a great blessing in what I do, and my sons have joined me in running our pousada.
The formula for happy customers is constantly engaging with each and every guest, listening to their feedback, and doing whatever it takes to meet their expectations.
We have great respect for everyone who enters our gates, knowing they have walked almost 300 meters to reach us after receiving strong recommendations to dine with us.
As many of you may know, we are super friendly and hands-on. We follow a specific set of rules, which helps us create a memorable dining experience.
Yes, I do reply to negative reviews to clarify any falsehoods that some may express. These reviewers could easily communicate their concerns in person but choose to go online instead. I have worked in this industry since 1985, and our growth has come from listening to critiques and feedback.
Our industry is very demanding, and without passion, it doesn’t work. I have been doing this for almost 40 years, and my passion for serving has not diminished. I hope to continue this for many more decades to come.
Thank you all for being our fans. Without your support, this wouldn’t be possible, and I am grateful for my team, led by Kevin, and my sons by my side

Nice place but commonplace food, despite the very high price. We hoped to be impressed by ordering the dishes that were among the most expensive on the menu but the disappointment was great. Seafood that could have been roasted simply was spoiled by heavy and ultimately useless sauces. Soups were served in simple mugs. No effort at presentation. Service minimal.
So in the end the price-quality ratio (“Cost Benefit”) of this very mediocre restaurant.
The meal for 2 people cost 10,000 rupees (€115), 3 to 4 times more expensive than the surrounding restaurants, for an equivalent quality.
In short, a place not to recommend compared to what can be found in the surroundings (restaurant "A reverie" exceptional or "Dmellos" on the beach for example).

One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. From ordering the food till the food were at the table it took minutes, something that indicates this was premade. The food had no taste, except I’m pretty sure it was sand in at least two of the dishes we ordered. The cocktails tasted nothing but alcohol, and their juices was definitely not fresh. They charge a lot for bad food, poor service and extremely uncomfortable chairs. Spend your money elsewhere!

It is indeed shocking when your business establishment received negative reviews, especially considering the fast and efficient service we provide. It's all about prepping well in a very organized kitchen.
Sand in the food !! or perhaps the crunchy ingredients in the grilled aubergene salad?
With regards to the cocktails, Maybe the generous 60ml pour was too much for you. As usual, the only watermelon juice consumed was freshly squeezed.
Oh, I understand now, why you felt the service was quick . One of you was called by the parking attendant, saying you had left the car lights on. I know this because one person was missing from the table after the mains were served—specifically, one vegetarian veg curry and a salad. I did mention to you’ll that you should have told me about the car lights, and I would have sent one of my boys instead of you having to take the long 300m walk, especially in the hot sun.
We are here to create happy memories. I personally seated you, took your drink and food orders. It's our norm to check if everything is okay, and you all said it was good. Instead of posting such nonsense, giving feedback on the spot would have allowed us to resolve any doubts instantly. I would have proudly shown you our kitchen space and the professionalism of our kitchen team. They say the proof is in the pudding, and you finished everything that was served.
We've been in operation for 15 years and have gained a good reputation for serving some of the finest, freshest traditional food. We will continue to be promote with our service, which is one of the reasons many keep coming back. Next time you're here, do visit us—it would be a pleasure to invite you to our hygienic kitchen and watch our professional team at work.

I’m not sure why this restaurant (if it should be called that considering what was served to us can’t be called food) has high ratings. Food was below average and service was pathetic. You’d think they charge highly because they offer something you can’t find elsewhere, but that is not the case! The location is mediocre to begin with, it isn’t like a shack, it’s located offset from the main beach so there’s no “shack-beachy” feeling you come to goa for.
Each and every dish is highly priced which we had no problem paying for considering we knew what the minimum spend was per person when walking in. But the point that arises is whether or not its worth it? A BIG NO. imagine you pay Rs.500 for a milkshake and it’s taste doesn’t match your expectations. This is what your experience will be like over here. Walk a few miles away and you’ll find food 50 times better with a staff that will respect you. There is a difference between price and worth which they really need to learn. We went to Pisco by the beach, prices higher than here, but were so delighted by their services and food that we were happy to pay the bill and tip.
Try telling the owner the same and the response you will get is nothing short of disrespectful. The owner was rude, arrogant and blind to his own issues. He needs to learn the hospitality basics if he wishes to have his joint open for longer. Had it been in my hands I would’ve given negative ratings but there is no option as such. Therefore I write this review to make sure others who read this don’t waste a meal they could’ve had at a lovely place and end up going here. The place will only add to ruining your holiday.

What a great morning start to this week “WE GOT REVIEWED BY A DOGIE “chihuahua! Hiral Arora & to get a whatsapp message from a same doggie really made my day . This gets even more better for Monday evening the wife also writes on TA .
.
The whole Arora khandan ( means family ) has reviewed us on Google , Zomato and also sent personal nasty messages on whatsapp .ha ! Ha ! Ha !
.
Started with the review of the father ( Jayant Arora ), than the mother follows, ( Varsha Arora), now one of the siblings ( Hardik Arora ), and this morning their chihuahua (dog) called Hiral Arora has also pen down its experience!
Guys find something better to do in life ! If this what is fulfilling than continue doing so.
One of the many repeat guests we hosted said “ don’t worry if some of them don’t like you, they are struggling to like them self “
Reviews are an illusion. Hundreds of happy guests don’t write reviews.
Handful of angry guests write nasty reviews thinking they will shut us down. not happening, word of mouth is a strong tool and it does work wonders for us.

Chill while you sip on unique tangy cocktails with a kick, curated by avant garde mixologist Joshua Proenca ; overlooking the scintillating waters of the pristine Calangute beach
The food caters to everyone - vegetarians/ vegans and is a mix of authentic goan food like xacuti curry with butter garlic poee which absolutely melts in your mouth and yummy deserts like serradura and crepes with jaggery and icecream,
Simply brilliant!
An Understated winner in north Goa!! not to be missed..

We were very disappointed by the quality of the food and the prices. Definitely not a “shack” experience. The food was bordering on bad. The grilled fish was tough & hard. The prawns were served in an inedible red sauce.
Cocktails were priced at ₹700-800. These are fancy Delhi restaurants prices.
Overall definitely not the experience we were hoping for. Be careful!!!

Your warning, “be carefull " !! Seems like an overreaction and is unnecessary. We are here to create happy memories, but sadly you decided to walk away and write a review.
We are always around and checking on guests for feedback and many a times replace items, not because there is anything wrong with the food we serve. The only reason being our cuisine is subjective and don’t expect everyone to understand or appreciate it. Toddy vinegar in the red sauce ( it called peri peri or recheado ) in your prawns is definitely an acquired taste. If Basa fish is your thing, then you would think kingfish is tough. Basa is fish which is bottom feeder preserved in a lot of chemicals . Although it is delivered for one fifth of the price, it is definitely not what I would be serving to the guests we host. The fresh Goan catch of the day definitely has a texture and not soft and flaky like Basa.
To all those who wish to visit us, please remember we are a very friendly lot. If you don’t like anything, tell us. I personally believe, when you're on a holiday, think about creating happy memories. Give your feedback at the point of service. I can assure you that many will appreciate it and work towards making your meal a memorable one.
Well as far as the prices are concerned, we chose to stay in that segment.

This is a must visit when in Goa! Neville has created the most beautiful, serene and homely space right on the beach. The sunset beach views with the beautifully manicured gardens add to the atmosphere. All of the staff are so welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed our chats with Neville and being introduced to his doggo's Chai and Biscuit. If a restaurant has dogs is a winner to me!
All of the food and drinks were beyond expectations, we had the seafood platter and the serving was huge! The garlicy buttery bread that came with it was to die for!
Be sure to come here for sunset, it's one of the best in Goa. Added bonus is the shower near the (very clean) toilets so you can wash the sand off.

Led by Neville and his charming sons, this is simply the best restaurant in Goa. Set back from the beach, screened by shrubs and a white gatepost sits this little gem. Glorious Goan food awaits. Neville - possibly the planet’s greatest host (more later) will not upsell you. He will tell you exactly what is too much. And the food is sublime. We enjoyed some prawns which came with the most tasty crunchy salad and some pork vindaloo which, in its velvet cinnamony sauce bore no resemblance to any Vindaloo I have ever eaten in the UK. Neville commandeers his crew while keeping an attentive eye on every single one of his guests. We watched him move effortlessly between the family with the new baby (who he gently took from the mum and walked around the restaurant so she could eat), to bantering with the British gap year students to chatting with us about life long history in hospitality in Goa. You really should go, this place is an absolute gem if you like good food and a class act.

Lately because of the lack of international tourists and influx of domestic ones the shacks especially in north goa are losing their relaxed laid back ambience and are catering to changed tourist profile by playing loud music and blazing lights keeping dance floors etc.
This shack thankfully is still keeping its uniqueness intact and not indulging in mass catering .
The two Labrador’s -chai and biscuit are an integral part of the experience and the food os tasty and prepared with effort
The place is not cheap ( minimum spend required us 1000// per person per bich may be a deterrent to some ) and the portions are not huge
But overall it’s relaxed ambience and food value makes it a place worth visiting
The owners are very friendly and interactive .

The food and ambience was fantastic. Please don’t click on the chat button when you open the place on google maps. That is bogus and the person who responds is not related to the restaurant. Restaurant owner was very considerate and deducted the amount we paid to the person on google chat. This is right on the beach and you can have a good time here. Overall a very good place and we would recommend it.

If you need to experience a beach side shack that is cultured and classy, Pausada by the Beach is your pick. My wife is very particular about where we lunch for her birthday and she loved the place.
The ambiance of being on the beach with the natural breeze yet protected from the harsh sun or rain is absolutely divine.
The menu has a good mix of Goan and Italian selection and some innovative cocktails that tickle your taste buds.
The owner and his family are on their toes to take orders and provide quick service while still maintaining the sushegad atmosphere at the restaurant.
Most recommended for a tranquil lunch with music, drinks and peaceful conversations.
No, they are not available for dinner as they shut in the evening :(
