The service and food was good, except I vomited 4 hours later and then the diarrhoea started! My partner and I had the same breakfast, we shared lunch and shared our dinner except he had hula jamu and I had kulfi so I believe it...was the kulfi that was bad. A rare find in Central Kolkata just stumbled over after coming out of Park Street metro stn. Amazing Afghani cuisine. My wife loved the special dish of scrambled eggs with spices and coriander. I had live Bhetki cooked in Afghani cream sauce- delicious. Service, ambience,...real heavy cloth napkins and clean beaming cutlery. Highly recommended. Arup who served was super.More
Me & my friend went to celebrate our 19 years of friendship as this where we went for dinner 19 years ago. Instead of having a good memorable time we had a terrible time during our lunch today (23-09-2022). We had to wait for almost...10 mins to get someone to give us the menu card. Then 5 min later we placed our order. As both of us were very thirsty we asked for tow sweet lime soda which took almost 15 mins & it was served after the food came. Then the experience went on getting worse as they didn't have what we wanted from the menu. Once we started with our starter which was chicken kabab. It hard, dry & not well marinated. The onions that came with is had spoiled taste & I warned my friend not to have it. The main course was equally disappointing as the used "garam masala" in the chicken tikka masala, which we never tasted before anywhere. The Rogan Juice was equally disappointing as the mutton was not tender & we literally had to fight with our fork & knife. Only good thing was the pea pulao, the Kabuli nan & the fresh lime soda. That is the only thing I can say & we landed up having 3 fresh lime soda each. Lastly the bill. All the food was overprized & we landed up paying INR 4,000/- for 2 of us, which was not at all the quality what we paid for. If we would have gone to Oberoi Grand next door it would have been a much better choice when you are paying this amount of money. The place is lacking in trained staff as the service was equally bad. I'm if Travel business for the last 32 year & I promoted Zaranj a lot for my foreign guests when it was opened initially. Thank God, I checked it out before bringing my groups again. Today was the last time in our life that we will visit this place. A very unhappy experience of our life.More

I and my wife had Lunch on 15 August at this restaurant which is centrally located at Kolkata.The restaurant specialises in North Indian food. I was totally disappointed with the dining. The food quality was not at all good. 5 of us were there for lunch but we were totally dissatisfied. The signature dish Sikandari Raan was not there to order. No lamb items. We were restricted to order...from chicken and veg items only. The makhani chicken we ordered was stale. Zaranj is a very nice place, situated at the heart of Kolkata (near Indian Museum) but without the crowd which one would often associate with restaurants in similar locations. The ambience is perfect for a family dinner or lunch. Though Zaranj doesn't have its own...parking but it shouldn't be a problem as parking places are available adjacent to the restaurant. It has got a Bar, a Chinese eatery and a multi cuisine one. One can order food from any of these 3 places within the same building. The taste of food is very good. The prices are a little on the higher side but the quantity that they will provide is also reasonable. Rajesh Pal- one of the stewards took special care of us when we had visited in Oct 2019. We were 6 in all and paid around INR 6.6k which included drinks and starters. So the average price per person that you've to pay is around INR 1.1 to 1.5k. Overall a lovely place with good food. At the entry one can see the list of dignitaries/VIPs who had been there which includes people like Amartya Sen, Saurav Ganguly, Shane Warne, Ravi Shastri and many others. It’s a very good restaurant that serves North Indian food with great ambience, nice interior and great service by the staff. Interesting restaurant with fountains in the middle. Food was good. We did order two similar dishes (having been warned that they were) and they were very similar. Overall a decent place to eat.
We really enjoyed the Indian food here. The ambience is a little over the top with bridges and water features and elaborate furniture but the staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. We look forward to returning here next time we are in...Kolkata.More

Best food in India I’ve had so far. And our waiter Zaffar was lovely! Try the mixed tandor platter. The almond drink was also to die for.

Ambience was great. Service was excellent. It's a fine dining place. Food was awesome. Tried paneer kofta (only 1 portion was available, fast selling), mirchi ka paratha was out of this world, tandoori prawns and butter chicken were very good too
