We were looking for a place to try out the Darjeeling Teas before buying some to take back home with us. Nathmull Tea had a store located at Chowrasta Mall and we walked in. They also have another outlet on Ladenla Road opposite SBI Bank building. We heard that they are one of the oldest and most famous of the Tea merchants of Darjeeling.
They had a great variety of Darjeeling teas which they source directly from the tea estates around Darjeeling. There were some containers of loose tea which we could smell and feel the texture of the leaves. There were black, green and white teas. The partner of the store explained to us at length the differences in the varieties and the method of preparations of the different types. He advised us that these teas taste better if we sip them without milk and sugar, because Darjeeling teas ate like the Champagne amongst the teas of the world.
We ended up buying not only some packets of teas but also some more souvenirs like magnet stickers and key-chains from the store. We also sampled a cup of their green tea in transparent cups.

This is by far the best place to procure your Darjeeling tea. The tea lounge at Mall was closed when we visited after lockdown. But the other shop at laden La road was open. They provide details of tea that makes easier for you to select the purchase.

The workers appeared to be helpful, but at the same time over friendly and keen to find out where you were from and whether you were a first time visitor to Darjeeling. Now I know why they tried to pry such information from their customers.
I tried a cup of their Darjeeling tea in their facility. It was of excellent quality. Based on this experience, I purchased quite a bit of this tea to bring back to Canada with me. They packages were very nice and individually packaged (200 grams each).
Upon my return to Canada, I gave away several packages to my friends and relatives. Then came the rude surprise. The tea inside the packages were pure garbage and absolutely third-grade or discarded tea leaves and stems.
My suggestion is, don't even touch Nathmull's Tea with a ten-feet pole! Stay away from this shop and the sweet talk of their staff. There are many genuine tea shops in Darjeeling. Buy your tea from a honest tea seller.

The ambience of the shop is good. Their behaviour is also good. They greets people nicely. I have visited this store a week ago. Since, many of them had suggested me to buy Darjeeling tea from this shop. They have a variety of tea. I have bought Darjeeling second flush tea, highland and longview. When I made this the color totally turned into a CTC liquor tea(black). But, originally when you make Darjeeling tea it becomes a light golden brown colour. Simply,they are fooling customer.they are taking money like a hell. And they are not packing the tea in front of us. They are tasting you the tea by smell but giving you a 100%changed smell. In the packet the smell is also changed. And the most worst part is that they have told wrong instructions to make the tea. They sale old tea. That's because they have told not to freeze or keep in a plastic container the smell will go off if we keep the tea in freeze or plastic container. I do not recommend this store.

That Darjeeling name pairs with tea, tea in Darjeeling pairs with Nathmull. It is heritage shop that lives upto its tradition. You come out more knowledgeable about tea

I visited Nathmull’s at lunchtime specifically going in for Tea I ordered a pot of premium and it was excellent, I also had a couple of cake from the counter which we’re also very good, good views and atmosphere with excellent selection of teas to purchase.
Highly recommended.

Small and Cozy Shop, Excellent tea and cookies... cordial staff ..good for a group when you are really tired and need to stretch your leg with refreshing tea. The counter staffs are knowledgeable enough to guide you about Tea... buy a couple of variety and enjoy your time their

have visited it number of times. Last was on 6th October 2019. The place is good. However the tea quality is not upto the mark. Suggest do not buy packed tea from there. Opt for loose tea and essentially first flush. Lots of utensils for tea making also available. But if one once to buy real darjeeling tea, try habib Molla on the Mall, almost opposite to nathmulls.

They were very knowledgable and gave us tastes of different teas that were excellent. The view, if there were no clouds, would have been fantastic. We bought tea and are still enjoying it.

Nathmull's is a family business offering huge variety of teas from various tea estates and a great tea tasting experience...right from the taste, staff who assist with options. Enjoy valley views while tasting, plus great ambiance inside. Do buy from them for an authentic tea experience. They also deliver to locations outside Darjeeling and are a pleasure to deal with.

Location is superb on Darjeeling mall and Chourasta, very well maintained one and different from normal shops, just take a window seat and keep on having some exotic teas alongwith the ever changing views from your window. Few cookies are also great. Very friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. Strongly recommend for family visit.
