The momos at this restaurant were simply the best I've ever tasted—perfectly steamed with a flavorful filling. The chilli pork was equally outstanding, with just the right amount of spice and tenderness. Exceptional food, simple ambiance, and friendly service. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Tibetan flavours.
Pro tips - Cash Only, waiting time minimum 20 minutes, keep some time in hand, 6 PM last order

We ate here twice when we were in Darjeeling as it's definitely the best food in the whole town. handmade family style Tibetan food, tasty, high quality, and large portions for very reasonable prices. very small so may have to wait but worth it for soups, fried rice, dumplings. etc I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Our first night in town we noticed how popular this small restaurant was, so we decided to give it a try. What a sweet place! The food was made to order and very good! The handmade momos were excellent. The vegetable soup with handmade pasta was excellent as well. The portions were generous and the food arrived piping hot. The menu is quite large, offering a full variety of offerings. It was hard to choose. You may have to wait outside for a table, but the staff is very accommodating and kind. If you want authentic Tibetan food at a great price, this is a good choice.

I would rather go to other restaurants. The capacity in Kunga restaurant is too little to handle crowd. They take more than 45 mins(in our case they couldn't serve a plate of chicken momo that we ordered) to serve food and I felt their attitude is not caring as there's regular flow of customers. I would avoid going next time there when there are larger restaurants available around that.

I have read review about kunga and decided to visit here for Tibetan food .
I have ordered veg momo veg rice and chilly chicken
They charged 790 rupees for these three dishes
But after eating those dishes I simply feel that I threw my money intu dustbin
Worst food,no taste ,I never saw the chilly chicken what they have made,it was just a street side onion curry with half boiled chicken, rice was not well boiled, momo has no taste
Over all I never recommend this eatery house in case of Darjeeling mal food tour.

It’s undoubtedly a good place to have the best of Tibetan food in Darjeeling , but they are too arrogant and rude towards customers . Just because you are not allowed to enter the small eatery during their own lunchtime , they will not even allow you to stand outside their gate on the public thoroughfare to wait for their service to resume .
The arrogance of the staff is such that even though you may request to take a booking they will shoo you off and ask you to come only when the services resume and if there are anybody who has been lucky to come before you or somebody of their chosen many , you will be allowed to get the privilege to order .
It’s known to all that major brands worldwide had to shut shops unless they are customer centric , so don’t bask in being the only blessed 1 , when God is kind .

Kunga offers good-tasting food, but it's quite expensive for what you get. The place is small, always crowded, and the waiting time is long. Due to the rush, you end up gobbling your food. It feels like they charge higher prices for the name they've built. In my opinion, a better option is Noryang Tibetan Kitchen, just slightly ahead on Rockville Road. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is calm, and there’s no rush. The only downside is the steep road leading there, which may be difficult for people with walking issues. Overall, it's worth the walk!

The food is excellent. However, since it is a small restaurant, waiting times are long. They serve all the dishes together and with people waiting outside, it is a bit rushed eating. A great place to try for sure, the food is really good.

This is one of the two best place to have Tibetan food in Darjeeling but good food needs time as well as waiting so does this. It closes by 5.30 pm so u need to be there latest by late afternoon. From afternoon itself the que starts as there only seating capacity is around 24 people.
Coming to the food.. yes this is one of the best Tibetian food you will ever had and the best in Darjeeling. The thukpa , momos , spring roll all tasted great and they are worth the time and price

The delicious smell hits you as you enter the packed restaurant to book your table. The waiting queues and ordering your food before entering the restaurant was a fun experience. Despite the rush they manage the waiting list in a very pleasing manner and a big smile. They open in the morning and close at 6 pm, sad they are not open for dinner. Wonderful food. Loved their momos and the chow. One of the few surviving Tibetan restaurants in Darjeeling since Himalayan Cafe and few others are gone. Keep up the good work and keep pleasing food lovers

Food is tasty, portions are big, the price is cheap, and the line to get in is long. The dining experience is bad because people outside the restaurant are looking through the window at your plate of momos and wondering when you're going to finish and vacate your table. Not worth spending precious vacation time waiting in line. There are plenty of great dining experiences in Darjeeling. Seek them out

a small cockroach that ran across our table put a damper to the start of the meal...we sat across two locals who are fans of the place, so i ignored the little critter that ran across our table - it wasn't a rat, after all, just a cockroach.
well. when a second cockroach was on the wall and went into the crack...that got me a little disheartened.
when a third cockroach disturbed the diners behind us.
...hard to enjoy food when that happens.
beef fried rice was weird. pork momo seemed raw? hoped and prayed that the onion in the soup wasn't a cockroach wing...
...disturbed. but i liked the vibe of the place.

I stepped into this so-called excellent restaurant with my family very recently and had an extremely bad experience. The food maybe good but the owner definitely needs to learn how to be courteous with her customers. Apparently she 'doesn't care'! Her behaviour was appalling and shocking as my expectations were pretty high reading all the good reviews. After waiting in the queue for over an hour, not only do I expect good food but also good behaviour. I don't think I will visit this place again, there are many good restaurants in Darjeeling that serve good food and respect their customers as well, I recommend exploring these places. Some of which are, Park, Tom and Jerry, Fiesta, Himalayan Cafe, Lazeez Affaire and Dekebas to name a few.

My family and I visited the Kunga restaurant. This particular restaurant was highly recommended by both friends from Kolkata before we came here and even by the locals, once we arrived. Indeed this was an exquisite culinary experience.... the food was simply amazing. The owner and the server were extremely polite, helpful and friendly. It is a small joint so it is quite natural that you may need to wait. However, the food is definitely worth the wait. We loved the homely atmosphere of this tiny restaurant and would definitely recommend everyone coming to Darjeeling to atleast visit this place once.

After an 8hr hike this place was recommended and did not disappoint - we were lucky to get there before the long queues (evident as we left). We had the egg thenthuk and veg and cheese momo’s at the suggestion of the staff - we had no idea what to order! It was all delicious and full of flavour - warning though that chilli sauce packs quite a punch but goes well with the momos.
