I went with 3 other friends to this place. They serve food at your table, which is really good. It's like a buffet which is served on your table. So, no need to get up and walk and go and come. This is a welcome...and nice approach.
Food is fantastic. They have a very balanced food of south indian, north indian. I tasted almost everything except for the deep fried stuff like mangalore bajji ( he is a killer, since it is maida and deep fried). Food was excellent. Everyone liked it. Staff was courteous and friendly.
I plan to go again this week with another set of friends.More
We were a family of 10 members when we visited on 2nd April 2022. I had earlier visited with my colleagues few occasions and thought i could make my family too get a good experience. It was a major blunder committed by me. The Worst...service by them, with no proper treatment to us. A sense of lethargy even in obliging to us . There was an utter delay to bring the starter, the main menu, No second serving and a sense of disparity was witnessed. Is annalakshmi open only to certain sect of people as we keep hearing. Why the hell then they are open to all public. My entire family went totally upset and unhappy. even the Ice creams, which usually would have choice, was served even without asking ours., The servicing team was at their worst. Management should understand that people with heavy wallets only enter their restaurant and they expect treatment fair in return.More
My title of this review says it all! A must visit Indian restaurant in Chennai. Make your reservations in advance. Most of the food served here are unique and of very high quality. To top it all the price is exceptionally cheaper compared to the...star hotels.More
A moderate authenticity in the food served would have felt better. Instead this fine dining chose to make a fusion out of thin air, in the process one tends to feel your taste buds are genuinely abused, you feel that you are taken for a...ride.
First of all, after two attempts within a span of three days , I got a reservation done for a lunch. We were thrilled to get our reservation confirmed, since we heard quite a deal about this restaurant. I particularly prefer to deal with Vegetarian restaurant.
It was a big disappointment. Fake cuisine , neither tasting South Indian or North Indian with an unpalatable taste. The only solace in the process after paying a hefty bill , we heard that it’s proceeds are meant for a social cause.
For a vivid traveller like me who looks for authenticity in the food served, Annalakshmi is a big no.
We tried their - Thali - for lunch. Except for the fanfare of neatly dressed butler, serving with a sing song voice, giving description about everything which was served ( give me a break, an Indian eating in an Indian restaurant given a briefing about the servings is height of imagination, instead the restaurant should focus on quality) is the best joke.
Well we did have a good lunch, after we stepped out settling our bills in another restaurant for one fifth of the price and were happy that we finally had our lunch, though it was little late.More
A place where food, surroundings and music sync so beautifully giving one the best gastronomical experiences.
Setting : Care had been given to every aspect starting from the Menu which was a grand book on its own. The interiors reflect the best of what India...has to offer and again so smartly chosen. The bronze idols of Tamil Nadu mix so beautifully with the Rajashthani paintings. The wood decor including the tables was astounding. Temple Umbrella was a lovely choice around the chandelier.Soothing instrumental Carnatic music of violin and flute. The most important thing was space with tables placed far away giving you the much needed privacy.
Food : This area one can never be let down despite how great an ambience you have. One of the finest South Indian food I have had recently.North Indian fare is mixed up slightly to suit a more common palate. Broccoli soup was refreshing. Crisp Vadams and Samosas for starters. Main course introduced with piping hot pooris and parathas from the kitchen. Followed by this was all South Indian fan fare one after the other. Even though it’s a Thali meal , the main dishes were actually served piping hot seperately. The Vathakuzhambu Sadham served with Carrot poriyal and ghee was out of the world. Similarly the Mor Kuzhambu was extraordinary. The curd rice was exactly how my mother makes it at home just gliding down to the stomach. The pickles were all fresh. Special mention of Fresh mango and ginger cut pickle. The curtain close down was a grand hot Payasam , Gulab Jamun and choice of ice cream.
Surprise elements : Ammini Kozhakattai, Vatthal of Sundakka, Manathakkali and Vempam poo served seperately.Tamarai thandu. Sweet Paan after the meal.More
One of the best places in Chennai is you are craving for a South Indian vegetarian meal. The lunch thali is like some 3 to 4 meals put together, starting with a very authentic soup to starters and finishing with 3 to 4 desserts -...feels like home cooking.
The service is exemplary with people from various working jobs volunteering for the roles.
I would definitely say yes to this place for a return.
The place has valet parking, spacious sitting in the dining room and pandemic precautions are in place.
The price is reasonable for this buffet and now are open only Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to the pandemic.
I would definitely suggest to call in advance and book a table - as most of the time it is full.More
