Two things that makes worth going to the restaurant is their service and menu being authentic to pure south indian .

The restaurant is already very highly rated, but still wanted to add my 2 cents worth. The tasting menu was a set menu with a variety of dishes of small servings - each was delicious, and well worth the price. What stood out for me...was the live entertainment- a flautist and mridangam player played lovely melodies, both traditional and other more jazzed up.More

One of the best known restaurants in Chennai, the range of southern Indian foods on the menu is a revelation. Service is outstanding. Only downside is that it is often booked out.

Get the tasting menu. Non veg or veg - they're both good. Also ask for Mysore pak. It's a common street sweet, but Raintree does a great job preparing it.

Having dined at the old Raintree some 7 years ago, I had mixed feelings about trying the new renovated version. The stage where dance shows used to entertain al fresco diners remains, but dining these days is strictly indoors in a new AC building, which...has a lovely central pool and classical music to set a beautiful ambiance. The hotel however suffers from a mosquito problem and despite staff's best efforts there were some in the restaurant and I was bitten. I opted for one of the tasting menus. All the food was well prepared and delicious, but I think the presentation could be better. For a fine dining restaurant these days you expect the food to look as well as taste beautiful. The chefs should think about this, because in taste, all the dishes were delicious. Service was efficient without being over bearing. Prices as expected were pretty high, but it was worth it for a very good dinner and lovely evening. Bring back the classical dancing though!More

Raintree has been my favourite over the years and I always look for a chance to go there and enjoy their cuisine and service. My dinner was exceptionally organised by Chef Gokul & Mr. Ashwin and menu curated by Chef Thomas George , who has...recently come to Taj Connemara from Taj Malabar. I was treated very warmly by Mr. Ashwin & the restaurant staff. Chef Thomas created a special menu for me , based on Kerala Rice Boat cuisine ( Photo attached). Each of the dishes were well made and flavourful. Since I am a vegetarian, he customised the original dish to a vegetarian version . Chef explained the dish and the accompaniments that go with each of the dish. The service of the staff was exceptional. Overall, I had a very memorable dinner at Raintree, thanks to Chef Gokul & Chef Thomas and Mr. Ashwin.More
