As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The building is a cool design and has a great atmosphere. Feels very western although it serves a good range of both western food and Indian food. The food was delicious (I had a fish burger) and reasonably priced. Oh and the toilets were nice and clean - definitely a plus point. I will definitely return next time I’m in Chennai.

I was invited by my cousin
Who lives in Singapore but who also has a home in Valmikki nagar off ECR, for dinner at "East coast at Madras square " restaurant today .
I couldn't refuse the invite since she was on a very short trip ,though as a principle I try and avoid going to restaurants on Tuesdays ,as Sr chefs and souz chefs too , in most restaurants have their weekly off and food does tend to be a little below par
at most restaurants especially those serving pan Asian food .
Today was no exception in this restaurant, at Neelankarai off ECR and the food served was just about par without their main chef .
We ordered a few drinks from the bar and some starters like lotus stem,Corn and peanuts with veg momos ,that were all okay and nothing great to write or rave about.
But for people living in that part of town I think it's really a cozy ,cool and a friendly place to meet and chat up with friends over lunch or dinner , that
could be easy on one's purse .
The car valet service came in quite handy ,to get our car parked ,in this quite residential area with limited parking , where this restaurant is located .
Frankly ,it did not make sense to me in driving 16 kms from my down town Chennai home to dine in this restaurant through worst evening traffic especially most good restaurants are all located in down town nearer to my home .
The Chocolate Mousse
was perhaps the best item I enjoyed here, as it was really wet soft and creamy .
Dinner for three set us back by Rs 3500 including 60 ml of Scotch and 30 ml of Vodka with tonic in addition to a strawberry Citrus drink .
Another restaurant ,by the same owner Mr Ram Mohan
Called "The beach by Madras Square " further down on ECR in Uthandi, I believe promises a good scenic view of the sea and I hope to check it out sooner than later.

A special dinner at East Coast at Madras Square. Tucked away in the quiet lanes of Nelangarai, this is a very charming restaurant and bar. Booking a table would be prudent, as the place was filled to capacity with more diners coming in when we left at about 9 pm. Very efficient and fast service. The multi-cuisine starters and main courses were excellent. Just rightly flavoured and spiced. Amongst us we had fried lotus stems, kung pao tofu and pork momos. Each had its own flavour and were delicious. Portions were ample and nothing to complain about. For the main course - watermelon and feta cheese salad, Thai chicken curry with jasmine rice, some rotis with mutton rogan josh and malai kofta and a very nice medium rare steak served with mashed potato, mushroom sauce and sauteed vegetables with a helping of potato wedges.. Desert was tiramisu, Belgian mousse. Drinks were served very quickly and well chilled. All in all, a great gastronomic experience. Commend the management and staff and compliments to the chefs for a great dining experience start to finish. Must try the lunch soon.

Service is abysmal, as the waiting staff don't care about your table, and you have to yell for attention. Nowhere even close a decent dining experience forget the finedining. The owner is also pretty inflexible to any and all feedback, on their deteorarating customer service. My manager who is in SFO, had multiple laughs while I was trying to call the staff multiple times for a single order of an extra sauce! So, if you are from around the local area, the food taste great and might be worth to put up with the horrible service, but if you have out of country company, with folks who are used to better dining and service, this is a total no go. Least of all I think they have some sort of preferential service - but I don't know what that is, member/non member, rich/poor, racism, or just the table size - who knows, as everytime I had call the waiting staff, as they never 'waited' on us and we're always in other tables, lol

Both Quality and quantity is good for the price what was charged.
Try their salads & Pizza's, it was good.
They have a electric charging point for your EV's
If you are planning to visit in weekend, better book a table else getting a seat will be tougher.

From the moment we were sat down to the moment we left we were felt like we were dining with friends. Great atmosphere, wonderful food and gelato to die for.
Would definitely visit again next time I'm in Chennai.

This place was a pleasant surprise . Considering that it is a restobar which is usually noisy in a city especially at night, we went expecting some noise. However , the place was well spread, quiet, close to the beach, and has both indoor and outdoor options . It’s ideal for a relaxing dinner with family and friends and we came back with both our stomach and heart full.

A bunch of us caught up for a mini school reunion and while the food was decent, the ambience inside was not ideal. The music was too loud and the choice of music inappropriate. We had to make multiple requests to get the volume of music turned down and the genre changed. Once that happened we were able to enjoy the remainder of our time there.

Its a beautiful place that is tucked inside a small lane on the east coast road. Lush and green, a lovely place to be in with your friends or family to spend some quality time while you have your meal.
The food was good. Served fast and hot. The drinks were nice too. In all it was a great experience.

It was easy to get a table and the food was of amazing quality.
Only con is parking during busy hours, although valet is available, it’s still not satisfactory
