Loved the music and ambience. The outdoors could have been slightly better. Service was highly courteous and efficient. Shout out to Shantanu and his team for extending an amazing hospitality. Would like to share some highlights… The Avocado Arugula raw papaya salad was outstanding! Crisp...and refreshing. A must try.. . So was the Blue Pea Chicken Dimsum with chili oil. The Coconut Creme Brûlée was a beautiful end to the wonderful late afternoon lunch. The Pegu World cocktail was a long refreshing cocktail to sip on. Presentation was quite decent too. Would definitely recommend it.More

Bo Tai Qutub is one of the most happening places in Delhi since its launch in 2018. Being Zorawar Kalra's restaurant my expectations were high and they delivered in excess. Located in the Qutub area , it has a serene location with a view of...the Qutub minar to behold. We went there for a family dinner with our relatives who we were meeting after so many years due to covid. The restaurant is located on the second floor in a shopping building just next to Olive (another legendary restaurant of Delhi) so the location is something nobody can really miss the place. There's an elevator which takes one up to the 2nd floor and once one exists , to their left is the entrance to Bo Tai (the washroom is to the right of the elevator). We already had a reservation in place and were given the option of sitting indoors or outdoors. We first selected indoors but then realised that the outdoors was a better option and shifted there. The ambience of the place is wonderful with a dark setting along side amazing ambient lighting . On the outside there are rows of Lanterns set on top of the open roof , which really is beautiful and adds to the ambience. There are a few seating options outside - Cabanas (for bigger tables) , normal seating and high chairs and tables along side the end of the rooftop which has a glass railing due to which a wonderful view of Qutub minar is visible . Very romantic indeed . We were given the cabana which in my opinion is the best . Especially the one which we were given , located on the corner of the rooftop . That gave us an uninterrupted view of the Qutub minar with lights at night . What a vibe ! The cabanas also come with dedicated fans which is a great relief especially in the summers . Highly recommend seating outdoors on the rooftop . Another highlight was the music , all the amazing latest day tracks were on play and the sound system was loud but not too much that a person couldn't hear another person if they were saying something. The ambience along with the music was just on point ! Starting off with the service - it was extremely good . Our server Shayon was of great help and paid alot of attention to our table . He gave us insight regarding the drinks and dishes and helped us in the ordering process. The food and drinks preperation time was not much and everything was served with grace. Another server whose name I couldn't get got us the drinks we ordered and was really a jovial person , always smiling ! I wish I had his name to thank him aswell. He was a bit shorter but a very well built guy. Shayon also gave us a dessert on the house. Wonderful service ! For drinks we had - a glass of Jacobs Creek , Hem and Lion , Macchanu's Riddle , Cool Heart and Naga Fireball. I also had a mocktail later on in the meal which was the Garden of 5 senses. All the drinks were smashing in flavours and appearance aswell. The pour of the Jacob's creek was great . No spillage and the amount was a more than average. Macchanu's Riddle was the vodka based cocktail which was repeated . It was served in coupe glass , looking very delicate . The drink had Absolut Vodka , Lemongrass , Thai green syrup , guava , kiwi , citrus , basil and saline . The colour of the drink was that of guava juice and the flavours of the kiwi and guava were the strongest at first followed by a nice hint of lemon grass and citrus . It was a great drink , a bit small in amount but great drink nonetheless. Cool heart - This was another banger . Served in their brass Pineapple serving glass (if one can say that) this was my second favourite drink of the night. The cocktail is made of Beefeater, Pineapple, Seedlip Garden, Jagermeister, Thai Green syrup and Lemon Tonic. The colour of this was green and in the brass glass it was looking fantastic . The flavours of the beefeater and pineapple was in abundance but the main star for me was personally the Jaegermeister which comes in after the pineapple and gin . What a combination of flavours , not too sweet nor too sour and the liquor flavour was in abundance which is always nice . Hem and Lion - Tequila , Watermelon, Thai Red Syrup Ginger, Hibiscus, Saline, Citrus, Sugar. Another fabulous drink for the night with a lovely Tequila base which goes perfectly in sync with the Fresh watermelon and Hibiscus. The citrus brings another different type of freshness . Lovely drink aswell . Garden of 5 senses - This was the mocktail I ordered , it was a strawberry base with soda , citrus and sugar . Nothing too complex but executed in an excellent manner. The drink was sweet , refreshing , extra fizzy and the nice combo of the strawberry with the citrus was a great element. There were also chunks of fresh strawberries cut into the drink which is a nice added touch ! Really enjoyed the mocktail , one of the better ones in the city in my personal opinion and went very well with the mains . Final and the best drink was the Naga Fireball . It is one of their main signature cocktails . A Chivas 18 based old fashioned styled cocktail at its finest . Getting proper smoke in an Old Fashioned is a very important part of the drink and most places never get it right . But here they have done an amazing job. Another thing about an old fashioned is it should take sometime to be prepared and again most places don't follow that tradition , but not here . This was the only drink which took sometime to come which I appreciate as it's always a good sign for an old fashioned. The cocktail came in classic old fashioned glass inside a wooden base and a glass cover . Only thing one could see when the drink arrives is the smoke inside the glass cover . Then in a very theatrical manner the lid is opened and the smoke releases over quite sometime and doesn't just dissipate in a few seconds. And then behold the old fashioned drink is in front of you. Really served in a very classy way , the orange peel , the ice the beautiful colour of the drink eventhough it's a more modern interpretation of an old fashioned. The consists of Chivas 18 whiskey , house made chilli cacao bitters , cold brew coffee , ginger and Thai red syrup. The cold brew coffee has an instant fragrance and kick along side with the whiskey and the chilli cacao bitters adds an extra kick and bitter flavour to the whole experience. The ginger is in the end as a final relied. If u really enjoy stronger , more in your face , hot and bitter flavours , there is hardly any other drink which can compare . Absolutely loved it and was a beast of a drink . Highly recommend trying the Naga Fireball. For the food we ordered - 3 starters , 2 main courses , 2 staples and 3 desserts(out of which 1 was in the house). The starters we had were - 1) Crispy Tofu , Invisible Batter - AMAZING , AMAZING , AMAZING ! In general I never enjoy tofu in delhi and rarely order veg items but on the recommendation of our server , Shayon , we ordered this and it was just a fabulous dish. Firstly the quality of Tofu which they have here is great , really soft and very silky. The tofu was lightly batter fried in a sort of glaze which was sticking perfectly with the batter . The glaze was sweet , sour and spicy and all the flavours came together in one shot the moment one put the tofu in their mouth . The wonderful flavours really complemented each other and the tofu aswell . An amazing dish and really took me by surprise. The portion size is great and it was served in a wonderful dish. Highly recommend trying this . 2) Wok Tossed Chicken , Dried Chillies and Cashewnuts - A classic Chinese style dish with its combination with Indian flavours , this is just a comfort food one can enjoy . Not too spicy but full of flavours from the spices and sauce . The chicken was cooked well and the Cashewnuts go very well with the sauce of the dish. It's like a chilli chicken with Cashewnuts and again the portion was great . 3) Crispy Prawns, Caramelized Thai Raw Mango - Now this was another banger of a starter . Full of flavours and prepared extremely well. A portion has 4 prawns but as we were 5 people they gave us 5 for an additional charge. The prawns are fries to perfection and have a wonderful crispy outer layer . Then the prawns are cooked up in a very similar sauce to the tofu but different at the same time , more sweet and tangy than the tofu sauce. This dish was also super complex in terms of flavours and definitely a hint of mango would come. The flavour combinations was great and yet another dish which could be the best dish of the night ! Highly recommend trying this. For staples we had Jasmine rice and Kanomjin Noodles Veg. The Jasmine rice was cooked perfectly , was very fragrant and a great accompaniment for the Thai curry. The Kanomjin Noodles were delicious aswell . A pretty hakka style noodle preparation with cabbage , bell peppers , onions , carrots etc but had amazing flavours especially the heat and spice. Kanomjin Noodles can be had by itself as they are th Jatt flavourful and tasty. For the mains we had - 4) Tofu , Broccoli, Straw Mushroom with Black Pepper - We paired this dish along with the noodles. Again an amazing quality tofu is being used by the restaurant as in this dish there was not batter and one could enjoy the tofu in a more classic way. The tofu was super soft and silky and had absorbed all the flavours of the black pepper sauce. The brocolli and straw mushrooms were great aswell for mopping up the gravy and gave different textures to the dish . The black pepper sauce was made medium spicy for our table and was delicious ! 5) Thai Green Curry Prawns - What a prepration ! Not too thick nor too thin Green Curry with fresh prawns. The green curry had all the usual vegetables in it and everything had absorbed that wonderful curry . The spice levels were also great in the dish and went perfectly with the Jasmine rice. A wonderful Thai green curry prepration and I loved it ! For desserts we had all 3 of the ones they offer. Each dessert was plated beautifully and was very unique - 1) Kobocha Custard, Mango Ice Cream - A pumpkin custard based pie served along side a mango ice cream . The flavour of the pumpkin custard was great , not too sweet and was very smooth. The mango ice cream along with it was very refreshing and sweeter than the pie , thus the flavour combinations was absolutely great . The only critique would be the base of the pie , it wasn't the best and was very brittle. Overall a unique flavour and dish , definitely enjoyable especially if one doesn't enjoy too sweet a dessert. 2) Belgian Chocolat Tart, Coffee Mousse - One small tart cut into 2 , served along side with a coffee mousse and Jack Daniel Choclate Cream . The base of this tart was fabulous and on point . The Belgian chocolate is sweet and a bit bitter at the same time and really enjoyable. The coffee chocolate mousse is quenelled perfectly and really sweet which goes very well with the chocolate tart. The JD chocolate cream has a strong flavour of Jack Daniel's and the cream was very soft and airy . Again a full combination of sweet and bitter which goes very well. 3) Coconut Creme Brulee - This was the best dessert. Served up in coconut shells , this creme brulee was awesome. Again a dessert which wasn't overtly sweet but just sweet enough to not overpower the other flavours. I don't enjoy coconut creme brulee in general but they have done a fantastic job and easily the best one I have ever had. The coconut wasn't grainy or anything but was infact Creamy (like the coconut cream) and the flavour was throughout the dish. The top of the creme brulee was caramelized to perfection and the inside was on point too aswell , not too thick nor too watery , just a perfect texture of creme brulee. The flavour was just too good and spot on . Highly recommend this dessert and was the best dessert for the night . Overall I understand why Bo Tai is all the rage and why so many of my friends enjoy the place. It's got an great vibe , wonderful ambience , great DJ , smashing food and drink and amazing service . Total bill for all this food (except for 1 dessert) was 14k and I would say each and every penny was worth it.More

Went for a family dinner on the weekend, amazing views of the Qutub Minar, incredible settings and good clean place. What made it uncomfortable though was the pumping music from the live DJ. Not the sort of place that you would go if you want...any sort of meaningful conversation. We had to repeat ourselves to the waiters many times, and vice versa and I couldn't understand why people may wish to have loud thumping music during their dinner. When asked why it was so loud (perhaps to drown out traffic noise, or if they were expecting people to donce) I was told it is a high energy restaurant, and that is the vibe they are going for. Nobody was dancing. In fairness the service was excellent, larger groups seemed to be enjoying the party vibe (we saw a Mexican wave of about 10 adults) and the Shisha smokers seemed to be content with the vibe. This feeling could just be a Delhi restaurant trend that I'm not used to (I had a similar experience at Rooh), but I can't help but think it would be a better experience for all (waiters to hear their customer orders and not have to think about wearing ear plugs, the DJ to have actual people dancing to his music, patrons able to have a conversation) if the ambience was a more chilled vibe. Acoustic guitar and singer or softer toned music to complement the rooftop vibe. But what do I know, I'm just an anonymous reviewer. The food itself was quite tasty, but quite heavily spiced, again great service when we could hear them.More

Bo Tai was a choice of a celebration lunch. The reviews and a word of mouth recommendation prompted this pick. As a frequent traveler to Thailand, Thai cuisine tops my wish list so a long absence from my favourite destination elevated my craving for good...Thai food. Simple put this was absolutely not it. Far from it,the experience was very disappointing. The reception hostess, Supreeti, isn’t cut out for hospitality. Her greeting was a bland “Do you have a reservation?” No greeting or any sort of welcome. Considering we were the first people in the restaurant for lunch, even the excuse of heavy workload doesn’t cut it. The attitude didn’t change at departure. One of the rare few good things about the restaurant is the ambiance. Open and airy with a terrific outdoor sitout that unfortunately isn’t usable in the afternoons in August. Our server was Harsh. The gin tonic menu is decent and the cocktails turned to be the only highlight of our lunch. That too with a twist. I had the G&T addiction. An elderflower based Gin Tonic while my wife had the Spanish style. Both were terrific and the only reason for my ranking not being the lowest. Our starter order was a crispy prawns caramelised Thai raw mango and a stir fried fish with chillies and basil. Our expectations were high considering the ratings. Our disappointment was even greater. The dishes were mediocre to say the least and the seafood was deep fried to an extent that it became tasteless. So for our main course we decided to not experiment too much and stick to the tried and tested Green curry and rice combo. Yet another colossal disappointment. The curry lacked Thai flavour, was too creamy and instead of being spicy as we had requested, was borderline sweet. The second round of cocktails were probably made by a different bartender who ruined it totally. When the drinks arrived I noticed the glaring colour difference and asked about it. Harsh tried to cover it with a nonchalant “ it’s the colour of the glass” about a colourless glass. The first sip proved my concern. We had to send the G&T Addiction back for a remake. The other drink hardly had any ice so ice had to be requested for. The impression of the first drink was marred by the experience of the second one. A thorough disappointment of a meal. If you crave authentic Thai cuisine this place is definitely NOT it for you.More

Visited Bo Tai recently. Ordered Beer & Elderflower Spritzer but in Jacob Creek sparkling. Server suddenly offered us 30% discount of Rose - Chandon. We ordered wild mushroom sautéed in herbs for starter, & Thai Green Curry with veg rice. Starter came in as a...honey sweetened curry with no herb flavor. Returned & instructed chef. Next time it was way too salty. Thai Green Curry was watery with hardly any vegetable visible. Overall a waste of money. Rose - Chandon bottle seems expired - old & worn out. Discount offered was only 20%, that too on food, not on Rose. Wonder what Mr. Dildeep Kalra has to say on this experience. NEVER EVER again, Bye Bye Bo Tai.More
