Cheap and good eats served cafeteria style. I ate here at least once a day on my recent stay in Bocas. Most meals cost $3 to $5 . Clientele is overwhelmingly Panamanian. They know a good thing. I went to the restaurant on Calle 2. I think there is another one on Calle 3, as well.

We kept trying to give Chitres a chance as it's cheap and central. But the service is appalling. We have friends who live here and the woman working on the main St is notoriously unkind. She messed up our order and then charged us extra, when we asked her to fix it she said we had already paid and stormed... More

The best kept secret in Bocas. Delicious local food that is full of flavour and doesn't even touch the hip pocket (I.e super cheap). Best empanadas in Central America and a nice traditional ambience makes for a complete dining experience. Main Street. Across from pharmacy and sea horse game room.

The food is very local, and you pick what you want, like rice/noodles with potato salad and meatballs or chicken. I recommend getting the brown rice. It is quite tasty because it is not just rice but mixed with some other ingredients. And the price is very good too! Especially compared to some other restaurants in Bocas Del Toro. For... More

This Fonda had a great review in my travel guide. I love fonda - inexpensive local food. This one did not disappoint. I had the pork chops and my wife had the meatballs. The meatballs were awesome, the porkchop was fine. Each plate came with salad, rice and lentils. Good meal for a bood price. However, the best thing about... More

Came every day and sometimes twice in one day for their inexpensive and tasty local food. You get it straight away and there is enough variety to keep you coming back for more. A very decent meal for under 5 bucks you can't go wrong.

One of the original places still going from when I first visited 14years ago. Still brilliant! Best value for money in the island, surely?

We got into Bocas too early to be picked up by our rental house boat, so got our taxi to let us off at Chitre for some breakfast around 7:30am...Got a big plate of eggs, chorizo sausage, fried yuca, yuca cakes, and more for about $4....good coffee, too! Mostly locals, everyone said buena dia when they came in, so we... More
