Go there to just soak in the ambience very nicely maintained old British architecture. Good for coffee and light snack. The variety of juices is also good...

We had lunch at the empire cafe. As we entered the place we were not received by anyone. The staff saw us, said hello but it took about 5 minutes until they seated us (while there were many free tables). The location of the restaurant is good, right next to the temple of the tooth. The decoration of the place... More

Great reasonably priced cafe next to the Sacred Tooth temple. A rare find in Kandy. Varied menu for lunch and dinner as well as a good place for coffee and cake. Free wifi too.

I was so happy to find a place that had good refreshing juices! The prices where a little expensive but the location is amazing and the drink and foods are western style, so it makes sense... I had a pancake the next day at the same spot and was not loving it but it was okay. My tip is that... More

The interior and menu are superb, the service was a little bit "sri lankan" and sexist, ignoring the women in our group entirely.. Even though there was only one guy with us, it was all "yes, sir" and "sir did you enjoy the food?". Disappointing and not good on the mood. The food was okay however and at reasonable rates.... I visited this cafe with my wife twice and the service was excellent. On the third visit the usual manager was away. Our new waiter (male and wearing glasses) tried to kick us out as soon we were finished and was extremely rude. This was despite empty tables next to us and even after we bought extra food while we... More

We just happened on this place and it was excellent. A very colonial building close to the temple of the tooth, with a good atmosphere and lovely food

This place is mainly for Western tourists. But it was a good stop for a quick lunch in Kandy. The chicken and mango wraps, special French fries and watermelon juice hit the spot. Reasonable prices.

I had both a breakfast and lunch here, and enjoyed both. Nice to sit out the front and watch Kandy drift by. Good menu to cater for most tastes, and to get away from the dahl for a change.
