For sure the best food on the island! Cheap and a lot of veggie options. Very friendly owners. We’re eating here every day!

Like other restaurants along this road, it has see a great drop in business since the drop in tourists. Like other restaurants, they will have some things available and other things that they can call for. The food is great though and Angel speaks English...well.More
This is the one of the best meals I have eaten in over 3 weeks in Nicaragua. The woman working is kind, friendly, and accommodating. The food took a while to make simply because she hand-made everything after we ordered, but it was so well...worth the wait. This place is a hidden gem.More
We went to Imperio upon finding Congos closed for the second night in a row, and it was a delightful surprise! The owner speaks English and chatted with us before and after dinner; he's kind and engaging. The food is good, the beer is ice...cold, and you can't beat the price (we paid the same amount for beers here as we did at the store!). The restaurant is clean, and we loved the polished wooden tables; they also had some wicked cute puppies! It was a very nice place to eat close to Hacienda Merida.More
I really liked the food and prices at this restaurant. They were really helpful and willing to adapt to vegan. Delicious empanadas with beans, salad, and tostones with pesto with a great price.
Wow Wow Wow Pepperoni 🍕 pineapple 🍍 onion cheese 🧀 and tomato 🍅 Proper old school crust Lovely chat with the owner who spoke excellent English. Then, as if to top it off (pun intended) the home-made coconut 🥥 ice cream could make Ben and...Jerry go back to the drawing board! Go out of your way to get here.More
We stopped for breakfast at this great place, as well as the food being delicious the staff were so helpful. They organised transport for us to the springs and gave us information on how to bus back. After finding out it was pizza night, we...went back in the evening, the beers were cold and the pizza from the wood fired oven was one of the very best we've found in Central America! 300c for a pizza with a choice of toppings that feeds 2 (or 1 very hungry person!)More
After kayaking we had lunch there. We had the fish filet which was fresh and well prepared. It came with mixed salad, rice and fresh frites or “patacones”. Plenty of food for 6 $ / each beer included.
Saturday and Sunday are pizza evenings, cooked in an awesome wood fired oven. Try the chicken and pineapple, you'll go back for it again, as we did!
We had two wonderful dinners here staying next door at the Omaja. Angel and his wife were wonderful and gracious hosts with delicious food and do not leave without getting the House cocktail! The best. Our only regret is that we were leaving before the...pizza oven got fired up (Saturday/Sunday).More
This small restaurant is a hidden gem. The owners of Cafe El Imperio, Angel and Yessica, are amazing. They are very friendly and we had such a lovely evening with them. We had dinner with a group of 15 and the food was great! I...had the grilled fish fillet which was super, just like the homemade coconut ice cream. For me as vegetarian they also had a lot of options. And everything was served at the same time, for the whole group! And if you need a picknic: they also make lovely sandwiches. Thank you Angel en Yessica, for the wunderful evening and lovely food!More
We enjoyed a very nice meal at Angel place, cafe El Imperio. we were with a group of 15, and although we had quite some different plates, we were served all at once, which is quite an unicum in Nicaragua. Angel is the best host...you can get!More
One of our nights on Ometepe we had dinner at Cafe el Imperio, a recommendation of a friend of ours. There was a great variety in meals, even in vegetarian dishes. The food was really great - muy muy rico- and Angel and his wife...Jessica were very nice. She does all the cooking and cooks really tasty meals. I do not want to complain about the Nica-cuisine, but compared to the other meals, this was a dinner with great variety and well-seasoned food. We took some of there home-roasted coffee back home; What a good souvenir! Thank you Angel and Jessica, also for the great Take away- sandwiches you made for the day after!More
This small restaurant is situated in Mérida, on the more remote part of Ometepe. The unpaved road to this side of the island makes it a little harder to reach, but don't let it prevent you from going there. For two reasons: the area is...less touristic and still exudes the original island life. And they have cafe El Imperio. Angel and Yessica are the owners of the cafe and both are amazing cooks and hosts. We had dinner with a group of 15 and the food was great. There was a wide variety of meals to choose from with plenty options for vegetarians as well. And everything for a very nice price. I can definitely recommend the grilled fish filet. While we were having dinner with 15, occupying all seats and tables, a couple came in to have dinner as well. Angel rushed into their house and came back with the dining table and two chairs from their living room. It's amazing that these people can prepare 17 meals in a small kitchen and have everything ready at the same time. Piping hot and great quality. That's something you rarely see in Nicaragua. And it all comes with a big smile. The restaurant is open from 7am till 9pm and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't miss it!More
Located in a beautiful, picturesque and quiet part of the island, this place is really worth it. We had dinner at Angel's place with a group of 15 friends. Not only was the food great (I had the filet mignon), Angel and Yessica really make...an effort to make you feel at home and give the best service possible. Angel, a true local to Ometepe, speaks perfect English which makes communication easy if your Spanish is a bit rusty. And he is very happy to help with travel tips if you ask for it. Also, they were able to serve our large group (and some other customers) all at the same time which really was a first in Nicaragua. They really have a great sense of service, good food and hospitality and clearly enjoy it when their customers are having a good time.More
