We embarked for a lunch at Le Poshe by Sparsa, Kodaikanal, a week after the lockdown was lifted in July 2021 and when the restaurants were re opened for dining. Spoke to Chef Ayyaswami, who promised a TDH extravaganza. There were 7 of us plus...a toddler for lunch and the toddler's parents were celebrating their wedding anniversary We were greeted by the front desk team at the entrance and we were escorted to the restaurant. Once seated, we were offered a welcome drink of a hot sukku malli coffee (Sukku is dried Ginger & Malli is dried Coriander) that warmed the cockles of your heart, on a cold & wet day. Chef Ayyaswami made a dramatic entrance (along with his colleagues) with the first course, an "Exotic Sprouts Salad in an Igloo shelter". A masterpiece in ice carving, the igloo's were set on a platter with napkins and housed the sprouts with carrots, onions salad and presented on a betel leaf. Art on a plate.. The next starter was a delicious Avocado & Shrimp Timbale. Perfectly seasoned and well presented, this highlighted the start of the Avocado season in the hills. To contrast the buttery Avocado, the next course was a Flaky Fried Chicken topped with a Cheese Ball, accompanied by a mustard mayo. The kids loved this and I lost half my portion to them A couple of live charcoal table top BBQ's followed with 3 skewers in each (1 Prawn, 1 Fish and 1 Chicken). All 3 with different marinades having unique flavours. The highlight was the spicy Prawn skewer, perfectly cooked, with a hint of Ajwain. What followed was a perfect combination of mint with fish. The "Peppermint Filleted Fish in Lemon butter sauce" was perfectly cooked, the sauce the right consistency and flavours. The crisp spring roll that accompanied the dish, again contrasted with the soft & flaky fish. The Tender "Peshawari Claypot Chicken" was next where Chicken breasts were stuffed with a farce of Chicken mince, nuts and subtle spices and served with Zucchini and Carrot pasta. By this time, food was overflowing through all our pores and with great persuasion, Chef Ayyaswami decided to bring out the last dish for the day, "Deviled Chicken with Mushroom Sauce". Presented beautifully, this grilled chicken was accompanied with a melange of grilled vegetables. The mushroom sauce was outstanding and the chef had used the"Pine Mushrooms" that were foraged from the pine forests in the hills.. Due to popular demand and the Chef's persuasion, we agreed to try the "Purdah Chicken Biryani". 3 small portions of Mutton Chukka was craftily presented in petite vol au vont cases, made with Indian bread. The service executive opened the Biryani top expertly on the table to reveal long grains of perfectly cooked Basmati rice, succulent chicken and boiled eggs Upon the insistence of the Chef & GM, we each had our own portion of "Nested Brownie with Chocolate Sauce" that was out of this world. A disk of pink blancmange topped the brownie topped with a spun sugar nest. I still don't know how one makes room for desserts after all the food, but am sure glad that we did.. As it's customary, the anniversary couple got to cut a cake but as we couldn't manage a single morsel more, we packed the cake for them. I can't thank the GM Gopi, Chef Ayyaswami and the entire team of Le Poshe enough for their love, warmth and hospitality extended to us and making us feel special. I would recommend that if you are in Kodai, please definitely visit Le Poshe by Sparsa, for a meal. The management will only be too happy to meet your needs and expectations.More
we ordered a la carte. The South Indian and Kabab food was great in taste and presentation. The service was prompt and warm.
We had all our meals at flavours through out our stay. Thanks to head chef Mr.Swami and Chef Narender Singh. We were given the exact taste as we had desired, even during buffets if we needed vegetables made to order , we were served well....The entire staff was superb Mr. Dinesh also to mention. All the ladies who were serving food they alwyas smiled and served what we wanted. A best eatery in kodaikanal.More
Hi, we are a family of hospitality professionals working overseas holding reputed positions ..We found good review about Le Poshe and wanted to try it. We were in a traveller bus with my family and grandparents. We asked security about the restaurant if breakfast available...and he said yes. We went inside and few men and women host and hostess informed us that restaurant is open for breakfast. We went inside around 10:40 and the staff informed us breakfast service is closed . We requested if Ala carte menu is available and they we were refused. On exiting the venue the Executive Chef had a chat with us and we expressed our frustration and he said he could try and find a solution. We appreciate his concern and we thank him for his consideration. It has been a very bad experience and we will never come back to Le Poshe ... Please don’t consider this as any kind of negative reviews regarding other departments or food. We just want to communicate to management about staff knowledge and information. Loved the food and the people Nice spread though the buffet seemed a little pricey as compared to other Club Mahindra locations and there were not many combos discussed till the last day of travel with the restaurant manager.
Please note that this review is for the resort stay and not just the restaurant. The stay at Le Poshe has been one of our most satisfying stays. The Resort - Though the spread of the resort is limited it has been well designed with...a straight pathway for at least 500 meters - which is a luxury in hill stations. Care has been taken to provide enough space for reception area and also a sufficiently big viewing balcony. The resort rooms are neat and well designed and also well maintained. The kettles were clean, all the doors and latches were working perfectly and all those minor things like tv, tv remote, heater all of it was working fine and we did not have to call house keeping for any maintenance issue. Food and InRoom Dining - The breakfast and dinner buffet spread was fantastic. Wonderful spread of desserts and salads. Modern cuisine as well as some traditional stuff, standard items to one side which keeps repeating every day and new items on another side. Food itself was absolutely tasty and soft on the stomach. Its been some years since I enjoyed sumptuous breakfast and dinner consistently for 5 days. In Room dining choices are also very good. But it requires patience and you need to wait at least 30 minutes before the ordered item gets served. But this is not a surprise considering that the same is mentioned in the in room dining menu card Travel Desk: This is one area that will need some improvement. While the cabs and drivers are knowledgeable and cooperative the front desk people need to be more proactive in managing customer expectations. They did not seem to know anything beyond the standard printed tour packages. They should have been more proactive in letting guests know which sites are not accessible, which sites are open only on particular days and so on. Staff: After many years experienced pleasant staff throughout - from housekeeping, room service, restaurant, security, reception and so on. Everyone gave out a warm smile and greeting whenever our paths crossed. This I believe is the most important part of customer delight. Everyone was eager to help with our queries with one even volunteered to get the medicine for us when my wife fell sick during one of the days. Overall a very warm and welcoming placeMore
