We got (mis)taken in by the namesake! As it was at a walking distance from the Marriott, we decided to try out some sea food one evening but were clearly unprepared for what was in store for us!! The staff, while smartly dressed in black,...have no idea on how to take & advice customers on their food order! For starters, there was no whole fresh fish & the reason given was.... "as we are low on footfalls, so we don't stock up" (not even a few!!!) So ended up ordering for some fish curry, prawns & fish n chips in sea food with specific instructions on 'very low' spices. Could manage the fish curry (the portion as adviced by the 'man in black' was to be ok for two while in reality, it was two 'slices' of fish in a big bowl of watery gravy).. that's how we ended up with the 'quick' service of the fried prawns.... and were left wondering if the chef lost his count on the chilli masala!!... were reminded of Springsteen's cool song ("i'm on fire"). Kid's were all excited about their 'Fish & Chips' order... one would ask, what could even go wrong with this standard global dish? But hey... i guess Mum ran out of batter.. so here it was, slices of fish with chips!! Towards the end it was like... "lets just get out of this place".. Lucky for us, with McD's next door, the whole lot gorged on ice creams for desserts!! Mum's kitchen..... wonder where your cuisine movement is headed??More

We were staying at marriott resort and spa for few nights and enjoyed awesome Goan food and hospitality at local restaurants like Martin’s corner, peep, ritz, Cafe Bhosle.. we had heard good things about Mum’s kitchen and decided to visit there for dinner on our...last night in Goa. Marriott booked table for us at 8.30 and they were told very curtly that they have reservations and we should be there by 8.25 to make sure they don’t cancel our seat. We punctually reached before time at 8.15 to find an empty restaurant and a snobbish staff to greet us. Showed us the table and we ordered glass of White wine and beer. While the beer came they said they don’t serve wine by glass. We asked what can they suggest cause we are certainly not going to finish the bottle. They suggested port wine and got the bottle after 5 min and said they serve that also by bottle. The attitude was shocking abs with no understanding of what the guest wants. We have eaten in many places and must say the best in the world while travelling, we haven’t seen such snobbish behaviour. We paid for the beer which we didn’t drink and left without eating. This industry is called service industry for a reason and this is the restaurant which is complete opp and reminds every place of what not to do. It was my worst service and staff experience ever in my 25 years of world travel. Worst to say the least. Never ever to come back here and totally not recommendedMore

Personally I was returning to Mum’s Kitchen after 11 years. The restaurant set back behind a small garden has retained the beauty and charm I recalled, and has been well maintained. The friendly wait staff was helpful and patient in assisting us picking our choices...from the wide variety of Goan offerings on the menu. Moonganche was a green salad of sprouts, which went well with the beer. For the vegetarian member in family, it was Almeche Xacuti, mushroom in coconut gravy served with Poi, a variety of Goan bread. Mankyo Ambot Tik was squid in copious sweet and sour red gravy served with rice. My personal selection was stuffed Mackerel called Bharele Bangade. Finally we finished off with Bebinka, a Goan pudding, with ice cream. This experience of a lazy lunch, eating many familiar items but with altogether new taste and flavours, while looking out to the beautiful garden outside, was an experience that makes us want to return to the place again. The friendly and attentive support of Mr. Rex Olivera, was indeed a key to the memorable experience.More

We visited this restaurant for lunch on our recent trip to Goa. Their menu is loaded with uniquely goan/portuguese fusion dishes. We were in Goa only for two nights, hence, didn’t get the chance to eat at many food establishments but this particular restaurant managed...to impress us with their yummy food in a fine dining setting.More

Small restaurant that has been in existence for ages serving authentic Goan cuisine. The ambience is very ethnic and the staff are super hospitable. We had sorpotel with sanas, fish fried on semolina coating, dal rice, amaranth saag. The bar is well stocked and washrooms...kept ultra clean. A must place to eat while visiting Goa.More
