So much had changed in the 27 months since I last visited Goa & on the trip back from Miramar, the family & I stopped at what looked like this quaint homely little restaurant hidden away behind all the greenery….. don’t let the simple signboard...deceive you. The inside is gorgeous, vibrant & well deserving of all the awards displayed on one of the side walls, the food simple & delicious & the staff every so watchful & informed. We thoroughly enjoyed the simple Goan fare; solkadi, bombil fry, bhendechi bhaaji & xit kodi with awalache lonche… Mum would definitely approve!!More

We were at Mums Kitchen with family and friends for dinner. The best food I have had in Goa since the last 12+ years I am here. Seafood was as fresh as ever , meats very tender and succulent. My wife, her brother who was...visiting from Thailand and cousins from Gujarat and friends had a absolutely fantastic meal ,also the cleanest restaurant we have been to. Special mention for Akina who served our table. Tks once again.More

The food here is among the best you can get from the local cuisine.. you are paying a premium for the experience and the quality they offer. A tad bit on the steeper side but worth it.

The restaurant was highly recommended by friends as well as online as a must try. Apparently you need a reservation for this place and I just walked in. The staff were very polite and they happily offered me a seat. So that was a good...start. You get garlic bread as a complimentary starter which was nice but a tiny bit too hard but can’t complain. Starter was fried calamari, very delicate and very good. Was cooked just about right and had the right crispness and softness. Barely needed the mayonnaise as the rice flour batter had the right slice and didn’t feel too dry. Wanted to try the mackerel curry for the entree however they ran out of it and was recommended to try chonak fish curry instead which I went with along with the Goan rice ( red parboiled rice). First of all, both the rice and the curry were served scorching hot (temperature), nearly burned my mouth. The chonak curry was too salty and the fish was over cooked and just crumbled in the curry. By the time I served it to my plate, it was mushy. Barely recognizable. The fish was fresh enough I’d say but the curry tasted way too salty. The rice was so hot and still had the moisture in it so it barely absorbed any curry which would have mellowed down the saltiness. But even then the curry had too much salt to be mellowed down by the rice. All in all, average or just below because it was a big let down for the recommendation they got and the price they demand for their dishes. I’ll give it a miss and rather try Bombil or Vinayaka Family Restaurant instead. Both of which are far better in taste except for the ambiance.More

I had kingfish curry, goan rice, served with a star fruit pickle. I really wanted to taste the vindaloo from Goa so I asked the chef to prepare a little bit of sauce for me on the side. May I say that the fish curry...was amazing where the real star of the meal was the Kingfish. The sauce was just right and not overpowering with too much spice or oil. The rice was perfectly puffed and soaked the flavours perfectly. Please go there and have this curry. Being a restaurant owner myself, I pride myself on my vindaloo. But this Vindaloo sauce was just something else, in other words…. EXTRAORDINARY!! The pungency of spices were perfectly balanced with a slight tanin of tomatoes and a hint of sweetness to balance it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!More

Mum’s kitchen came highly recommended when we enquired at our hotel for a place that served authentic Goan cuisine. And I must say we weren’t disappointed. Every item was finger licking awesome, authentically Goan, and the service impeccable. I just wish they had a better...selection of dessert items. The crème caramel was slightly over cooked which took away from the otherwise awesome meal we had at Mum’s Kitchen. A must visit when in Goa.More

We had dinner at Mum's Kitchen in Panaji on our first night in Goa and it provided us an excellent introduction to Goa's unique cuisine. The restaurant has a nice atmostpher and is located on the main waterfront road in Panaji. Our server went out...of his way to explain the menu options, make recommendations based on our needs, and even made adjustments for my husband's shellfish allergy so that we could try a wider range of dishes. The food was well presented, delicious, and the portions were generous. The restaurant is pleasant and spacious, allowing sufficient space for social distancing while dining. There are displays showing the spices and special local ingredients used in the cuisine. We would especially recommend the xacuti, the "vil'lim" (crispy fried milkfish), and Mum's prawn curry. We will definitely make a visit to Mum's Kitchen a priority on any future trips to Goa!More

Mum's Kitchen is a landmark for culinary excellence in Panaji in authentic Goan non-veg food. Try the chicken/mutton xacuti with "sanna", ethnic Goan rice cakes baked in traditional coconut toddy. Cheese croquets are to die for. The fish curry has authentic Goan taste and cannot...be missed with boiled rice. Parking is a problem as it is on main Miramar beach road. Though expensive, it is full value for money.More
