If one wishes to eat local food this is the place . The waiting time is high , one to two hours is normal . Token system . Location ~ Panjim Small eatery with limited capacity . Reminds of school canteen Veg thali and fish...thali and bebinca are delicious. Economical too , the service is efficient too. The washrooms weren't too clean may be due to over crowding. To enjoy food here one needs to have appetite. Review 3.5/5 Recommended Yes definitelyMore

It's an over-hyped place with a huge wait. Okay, accepted, it's a good place so one needs to wait. Let's talk about the food - I ordered a fish thali. While the taste is okay, it missed the zing/character, meaning, I don't recall any specific...part of the food that would take me back to this place. Everything was subtle, like for the average tourist. Then the variety of items in the fish thali - it also had crab, and mussels, and what not... well, it confuses the taste palette. But yes, it is great for people who want a bang for their buck! Not me... Not in this case, at least. And lastly, the food is served by non-Goans. Can't say who the chefs are! Nothing against equality and opportunity of employment, but it kills the experience. It's a like, if one goes to Japan and visits a 100 year-old Japanese traditional restaurant, and the food is served by someone from Sri Lanka who cannot even speak Japanese... would you call it a great experience? Over all it is an okay place for "regular tourists".More

Great food with lots of seafood choices ranging from shark to kingfish to mussels and so on. The pastes/masalas are slightly on the stronger side but that is probably similar to Goan masalas. Limited choices of alcohol. Be prepared to wait for a while. But...definitely worth visiting.More

We were in for a delight when we saw the sunday spread of thali... absolutely wow... the non veg thali was a connoisseur's delight with dishes in fish, mutton, chicken and pork... while they served in small bowls, it was impossible to finish it by...one self. Washing it down with kokum juice was ultimate... loved every dish in that thali... must try for everyone visiting Goa . This place is overflowing on sundays, best to make a reservation and keep up the time else its a long waitMore

Very popular place.Reasonably priced. Arrive early to avoid waiting. We went for lunch at 12.30 and when we were done the crowd in the waiting area was jam packed! Have had Sol Kadi in so many restaurants but the one here is absolutely the best. Fresh...coconut milk with the right amount of sour and spice.Absolute delight! Ordered 2 Beers and Bombil fry alongwith the Sol kadi.Bombil fry was fresh and crispy. The fish thali is sumptuous, A big piece of fish fry, prawn curry, fish curry, red saag, kismur, kokum kadi, tisrya masal, salad and rice. The portions are small but more than enough for one person. The prawn pulao( not to be confused sun the biryani) is delicately spiced and very tasty. All of the above for less than Rs1300/- with very good service by a smiling Assamese waiter. Found the bill very interesting.Prices in rupees and paise! No rounding off of figures. Want authentic local food..go early and don't miss it.More

We stopped by at lunch time and it was quite crowded. I think it was about 1/2 hour wait. We decided to come back at dinner time. Arrived early and had no trouble getting a table. Enjoyed some fresh fish. The highlight was a spicy...chicken chili. Great food, good service, nice ambiance. Enjoyed beer with dinner.More

Kokni Kanteen, a bit small from the outlook. On a Friday afternoon, we enter to get our token and wait with the already waiting large crowd in the small waiting area. While waiting for our turn, we had a Kokum Sharbat and Lime Soda, Kokum...Sharbat felt divine. After a 30mins wait we got our place finally, we were so hungry by this time and quickly ordered a Fish Thali, Prawn Biryani and Goan Chicken Chilly. Fish Thali that my wife relished had a bowl of rice with prawn curry, shark xacuti, some sides and a big slice of king fish rawa fry. I tried some rice with prawn curry and the rawa fry fish which was yummy. The prawn biryani was good but slightly high on masala. The Raitha that accompanied Biryani was the best Raitha I've ever had all my life. We couldn't finish the Biryani so packed the leftover (that was finished off later in the night). The Goan Chilli Chicken was a little too tangy and different from the one we usually get in Chinese hotels, it introduced me a different palette altogether, it was good I'd say but not exceptional. Our finale at Kokni was with their famous Best Goan Serradura. Truly the best. The meal with the sharbat and lime soda set us back by 950Rs. I felt so much hype for this place, and it's totally worth it in the end. If you're in Goa, relish their lunch at least once.More
