Talk about a perfect lunch! We walked up from Miramar to build up an appetite. There was a queue to enter even half hour before closing time… but we used to time to scan the menu and gape at the celebrity photos. The food was sumptuous, and filling. My vegetarian colleagues did justice to their thalis, The fish dishes were so much, we gluttons could not finish them. Wonderful experience, friendly staff.

The hype is real. Kokni Kanteen serves food that we didn’t taste anywhere else - rich without being spicy. Complex curries and very very fresh and tasty fish. The rava fry chonak fish was crisp, fresh, and firm. The mori (shark) xacuti was sweet and complex. And the revelation was the dried prawn kismur - we were apprehensive as we had heard that it could be very smelly, but it was fragrant, salty , umami, and with the sweetness of toasted tender grated coconut. We also loved how the restaurant uses kokni titles for its staff. Highly recommended

Fantastic place , cozy , right at the beginning of Panjim city located in a quiet lane next to famous Panjim church. This restaurant offers amazing range of Goan cuisine both veg and non veg. You can choose from basic thali or go for signature dishes in chicken or fish . Vegetarians can savour the amazing green pea cashew vegetable or chana rassa. All the dishes are very moderately priced and possess best quality. For a kingfish thali , rice and prawns curry we paid 670/- . The crowd is very good and food connaisseurs. Staff is polite. If you go late ( around 1.30 pm etc) , expect a waiting time of 30-40 minutes also. Please collect your token from reception and they will call you once your number arrives. Very systematic. Do check the pics for authentic food we had and also the ambiance is impressive .

Ordered prawn curry turned out to be shrimp. Soup overcooked as it was obviously simmering on the stove for hours due to the very mushy shrimp I was served. Surface was OK but they acted like a place was on fire and couldn’t wait to get me out. My whole experience took about 33 minutes when I tried to explain that I just wanted to sit and enjoy my meal the server smiled and hurried me along further. At the end, I asked for the leftovers and ended up with a small envelope of soup and maybe half the rice I did not eat. Do yourself a favour give this a miss.

We visited early evening. The attendance was prompt. The waiter helped is make the correct food choices for us. Prawns in garlic butter...were to die for, beautifully cooked, big and juicy. Squid..coated in semolina and fried...unfortunately the coating was rock hard and did not do the soft squid inside justice..I would definately not order these again. Butter chicken & rice..absolutely delicious. The best meal we have had whilst being in Panjim. Incidentally the worst, terrible meal was ritz classic panto..avoid! We will be back to kokni. Keep up the good work folks.

Ordered chicken xacuti via Swiggy which was oily and spicy and therefore suffered vommiting and stomache. Pl improve your quality of food .you cannot sell oily stuff in the name of Goan cuisine . Very disappointed.

A waiting time, a minimum of 30 to 45 minutes during lunchtime is to be expected here due to a limited number of tables. Lip-smacking local cuisine together with responsive service makes the wait worth it. The fish thali covers all flavors and tastes of Goan cuisine, from starters to the main course. A good time to visit is when the doors open, at 12 pm. And make sure you have a light breakfast before you visit this restaurant.

Its a compact restaurant with a high waiting time. They had stopped accepting more customers for lunch around 3pm, we were lucky to get a token from a customer who wasnt willing to wait for about 1 hour. We ordered non-veg thali, veg thali and fried Bombil. Both type of thalis were good, they had Bengali fish curry in the thali on that day; the fish portion baffled me, it was soooo small, didnt make sense to have it in the thali. Suka prawns were good. Veg items were standard. Since, I was trying Bombil for the first time, didnt knew that it was a wet fish, Bombil Fry didnt appeal to my taste buds. I had higher hopes in terms of getting to taste authentic Goan food but that is my problem :) Service was quick, staff accommodative, prices economical. Overall, a good experience.

Have heard a lot about this place - mainly due to Instagram. But found the food to be below average. The fish thali at Ritz is much better. We ordered a fish thali and a veg thali between three folks and were asked to not share the thali. Well, but it was already a limited thali; so why can we not share it? Whatever, we ordered one chicken starter as well. The fish thali's main attraction and good part was just the fried fish. Rest all were mediocre, for example, prawn curry had two small prawns. Chicken starter was too oily with chicken not cooked properly. Overall, it was a case of good PR rather than good food. I will stick to Ritz next time.

Quaint little place with retro authentic goan decor makes you hopeful about the authentic flavor. Ordered “prawn dangar” that was more like rawa dangar with occasional rare pieces of prawn. Also, ordered mackerel reshad that came as burnt bangda served with the head intact. As an authentic goan, I find fish served with the head a bit repulsive. Reshad masala was the only saving grace.

A neat, compact and very busy eatery located in the heart of Panaji. Service is fast, and, the seafood menu is expansive. My family settled for the seafood cuisine .Food is well served and the fish varities are delicious.. I personally settled for a vegetarian thali, and, it turned out to be a hidden gem from their menu. Do not miss the sol kadi and the kokum margaritas. Note.. Parking in the lane is a big challenge, so factor that in. Overall, a good food experience with good value for money.

I went there for lunch and had a very satisfying meal. The dining place is isolated from kitchen hence the usual fish smell in room is taken care of. Tried some squid and prawns and local chonak fish with some beer - all good, I would say. Recommend to make a reservation prior to the visit.

Kokni Kanteen, a bit small from the outlook. On a Friday afternoon, we enter to get our token and wait with the already waiting large crowd in the small waiting area. While waiting for our turn, we had a Kokum Sharbat and Lime Soda, Kokum Sharbat felt divine. After a 30mins wait we got our place finally, we were so hungry by this time and quickly ordered a Fish Thali, Prawn Biryani and Goan Chicken Chilly. Fish Thali that my wife relished had a bowl of rice with prawn curry, shark xacuti, some sides and a big slice of king fish rawa fry. I tried some rice with prawn curry and the rawa fry fish which was yummy. The prawn biryani was good but slightly high on masala. The Raitha that accompanied Biryani was the best Raitha I've ever had all my life. We couldn't finish the Biryani so packed the leftover (that was finished off later in the night). The Goan Chilli Chicken was a little too tangy and different from the one we usually get in Chinese hotels, it introduced me a different palette altogether, it was good I'd say but not exceptional. Our finale at Kokni was with their famous Best Goan Serradura. Truly the best. The meal with the sharbat and lime soda set us back by 950Rs. I felt so much hype for this place, and it's totally worth it in the end. If you're in Goa, relish their lunch at least once.

We landed up at Kokni Kanteen by 12 noon, which was good because by 12.30 there were people waiting out in groups for seats. It is a small joint and the service is fast. We had a kokum based drink which was good and some beer. The fish thali was great with prawns curry, rawa fried fish and a couple of other side dishes all of which were good. But for me the highlight was the rawa fried mutton. It was beautifully cooked, melt in the mouth meat. Next time in Goa, would certainly return here and try out some more dishes.

This place is always crowded no matter when you come. But the wait is worth it for the food is awesome. If you are looking for authentic Goan food in Panjim then look no further. We had the crab sukkha and the kingfish rawa fry. They were both great but the crabs were heavenly.
