I just went here for the cooking class and had a really enjoyable time. The best bit though was hearing about local culture and issues with western v local business. Definately recommend although my amok didn't turn out as good as the one I had in kampot which was devine!

The cooking class was well organized and lots of fun. After we decided which three dishes to prepare, we started with a trip to the market. We bought all of the ingredients for the dishes and the teacher explained different types of vegetables and fish, answering all of our questions in detail. We returned to the restaurant and we each... More

My wife and I just took the Khmer cooking class with Vannak, the owner of Smokin' Pot. It started with a shopping trip to the nearby market, just a short walk. Class was at the front edge of the restaurant, so we were essentially outside, but well out of the sun. The first half hour was spent chopping and preparing... More

One thing I've missed most from Cambodia is the delicious Lok Lak! I heard mixed reviews about this place but decided to check it out for dinner. Knowing it was a Khmer restaurant I decided to check out the Lok Lak (I think I got a chicken Lok Lak which is not that common). The curry it self was delicious... More

How come this place could be rated 4/5! We have been there and the food is just average so my quote. The place seems quite dirty but we didn't had digestion trouble though. But seeing a rat doesn't gives a good feeling (yes it wasn't the little cat, it was a proper big fat rat). You could find better

Me and my boyfriend took part in their cooking class yesterday morning. What a wonderful experience. For only $10 a head it is affordable for everyone. The class starts with a trip to the local market to gather all of your ingredients. Then the cooking class is just brilliant. You produce beautiful food and learn so much about khmer cuisine!... If you cook here in the morning and eat here in the evening you'll be left thinking your own efforts were pretty good. Not to detract from the meal which was fine, just nothing special for the price and the food we cooked ourselves during the cooking class in the morning was just stellar.

During my first night in Battambang I visited Smokin’ Pot in order to book a cooking class with them and to have a meal. Firstly, they got my dinner order wrong and I was served Luc Lac rather than Amok. Food took a long time to come and by then I was so hungry that I just decided to eat... More

We were in Battambang 24/12/13 to 27/12/13. On Xmas day we stopped at Smokin' Pot for a beer and decided we'd both love to take the cookery course. It had been recommended to us by a couple we'd met on one of our many long bus/coach journeys. And so we booked it there and then for the next day. So... More
