We dine at the Iron Horse twice a year, a reliable joy on our snowbird migratory path. My brother was a lifelong railroad guy which is what first attracted us but the warm and attentive service and solidly good food has kept us coming back each trip. I've just booked our return trip up north and a res for dinner... More

It's good that a place like this is not too ambitious. The bar looks very cool, and there are decent microbrews to be had. I had morels with asparagus pasta which was solid. Surprised the morels tasted good. Three at the table just had burgers off the bar menu which looked good. Casual place. One important note was the excellent... More

We go to the Ironhorse about 3 times a year. Would recommend brunch on Sunday. It's really good. Dinner is nice but would like to see the menu change up a bit.

We were passing through Ashland on our way north. We spent the night at a Hampton Inn where the desk clerk recommended the Iron Horse restaurant. The restaurant is by the railway tracks and we enjoyed watching trains go by as we ate. The dinner was very good, however the hanger steaks three of us ordered were over cooked. Disappointing... The Iron Horse is still a great option in Ashland. The restaurant has lots of character. I enjoyed sitting outside. I enjoyed the trains as they zipped down Center Street. I received great service. Try one of their specials always a treat.

We choose Ashland for a whistle stop on a recent trip. We went for a walk around town and decided to stop for a drink. The Bartender prepared perfect Martinis as the train raced by. A Waiter came over to explain the Sunday pre fixed Supper, a few entrees accompanied with all salad and sides. We decided to stay for... More

I'm in town for business and asked a co-worker for a recommendation for brunch, she said the Iron Horse, and it did not disappoint. Great Bloody Mary's the stuffed olives were really good. The Eggs Benedict was divine, fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, nicely poached eggs with a velvety hollandaise. The chicken and waffles were crispy and light and... More

A local standby...Always warm and welcoming, good service, good beer selection and always very good food. A cornerstone of good dining and a nice bar atmosphere in our little town of Ashland.

We were two couples dining at 6PM on a Saturday night. Our server, Ginny, was excellent throughout, explaining the choices and making sure everything was right. Two of us had the Paella and it was good, but not great. One was served without clams by choice, but Ginny had those clams served on the side for the rest of us... More

We had a great meal at this great restaurant in Ashland VA. It is right beside the train tracks going through Ashland. We had delicious salmon and chicken smothered with mushrooms . The service was so friendly and gracious. The surprise came when the first train rolls by, slowly and quietly. It was followed by two more trains before the... More
