We stopped for a quick drink and bite at the front porch of the Evening Star. A quirky place to spend some time. Their rosé slushy is delicious as was the finger food.

Great venue during restaurant week. I had the pork chop which was really great with mash potatoes. Wife had beef stew which was also excellent. If you are in Alexandria stop here. Expect to spend around $80 for 2 people.
We won't be going back if I have any say in it. My wife wanted to try it since she had been there years ago. It was busy, but we had no wait until we sat down. We got menus and water pretty fast, then it took 15 min for a waiter to acknowledge us and ask if we wanted... More

Located on the main drag in Del Ray, the Evening Star does suffer from limited parking for visitors. However, once there, the weekend brunch service was prompt and the offerings were good. We got there at opening, which there was already a line formed up at the door. We had a table by the window and it was very, very hot sitting there. If you go, please try to sit away from those two tables. It would have been cooler to just have sat outside. I had the chicken and waffles... and... More
The service was friendly, the food came quickly, the Primanti sandwiches were delicious, the beer list is impressive, and the price was right (about $40 for three).

The hostess stood glassy eyed starring out the window. After 10-15 minutes she came over and poured water and said they were slammed by "all the people who came... More
