Our party of eight had been recommended this restaurant and had been warned to make a reservation. That was just as well as we were there on a Tuesday evening and it was full. The meal was excellent- every dish was favourably commented on. There...More

Food quality has been great in the past; but a little mediocre this visit. Food service was friendly but off schedule when the appetizer was served after the salad and main course. My steak was ho-hum (usually a must try) and the wife's salmon okay;...More

Four of us went to The Tavern before going to a show at the Barter Theatre. Service was excellent, as was the cuisine. The stuffed mushrooms were outstanding, as was the smoked salmon. We all got a different entree. The ribeye steak was overlooked, but...More

The Jagerschnitzel was delicous! Here is the desciption from their menu: The Jagerschnitzel (Hunter's Schnitzel) (spicy and fruit forward red wine) Pork tenderloin cutlets dredged in flour and pan-fried, finished with a creamy white wine and mushroom thyme demi-glace. Served with spaetzle and red cabbage....More

Love this place. The building is old, historic, and the food is wonderful. I get the same thing every time I go. Its the Chicken Saltimbocca. It is a pretty pricey place to eat, but worth it.

We only went for a beer, which was very good. The place is amazing, definitely worth seeing. Beautiful garden in the back too, something for a romantic evening!

The Tavern is the oldest building in Abingdon and it shows, that is not a bad thing though as the atmosphere is wonderful. We arrived about 15 minutes before they were open but the seated us anyways. My wife really enjoyed her dinner; however, mine...More

As I recall, the portions weren't particurally large. My wife and I both had a selection from the German dishes and they were great. The management is very friendly and I'm sure that they'd agree to sharing anything. I'd... More

Most of the dishes would be plenty to share - if you ordered an extra salad and/or another side. However, according to the menu - there is a $10 share fee per plate / which I did not appreciate. My wife and I also share at... More
