Visited Hills with friends on Saturday night. Arrived around 6:30pm. The hostess was very nice and seated us promptly on the patio. We were a party of three, but other friends joined for a total of 11in our group. I was surprised at how empty...More

My chicken fried steak was very good and my wife’s sizzler ribeye steak was excellent. The restaurant’s walls were almost completely covered with wonderful old photographs, documents, and memorabilia. If you are looking for a tasty lunch and a fascinating dose of early-to-mid 20th Century...More

We're so happy that you enjoyed the food and the history within these four walls. The chicken fried steak is probably our most popular dish -- it's great to hear that it served you well. I'd love to have you back again for another great...More

The food was average, prices not bad, and the service was not bad either. Not a bad place to grab a quick meal.

I'd like to give you a review of the food here, but I never got to try any so I can't tell you anything about it. I stopped in about 1:30 Sunday afternoon. A sign in the lobby said to seat myself, so I found...More

Orion, this is not what we're all about. You should have been given a menu promptly and had a nice meal with us. I know that must have been frustrating! I will check with the wait staff and see what the issue was. I'm so...More

We ate here for a business group dinner. We had a nice table and the service was good, with a few mistakes. The food was VERY VARIABLE. We started with queso and chips that were first rate. I had bar-b-que--it was some of the worst...More

I'm sorry for the mistakes during your meal, but I wanted to thank you for bringing them to my attention. The queso, burgers, and service were great from what you said, but the comment on the BBQ is troubling. I'm good to check with the...More

An icon. Stop and eat at this vintage restaurant, complete with booths named after everyone from Gov. Rick Perry to Willie. Walking in the door, the aroma is a mixture of something cookin and rustic woods. Very Texas, very original Austin. Chicken fried steak -...More

Good fairly inexpensive eats in historically significant old building on South Congress avenue. We went for lunch but they have some great music on certain evenings in the outside venue. The food was quite good and reasonably priced. I had a burger which was terrific.
