I was so excited to have a special dinner with my husband at Uchiko, this is a highly regarded sushi restaurant here in Austin. We just moved here about 6 months ago from New York City and we LOVE sushi. We have been to upscale places and just fun, regular places near our apartment in Queens. It was hard to... More

Not your typical sushi restaurant as the chef loves to experiment and not just have cookie cutter rolls. My Fiance got the five course tasting and it did not disappoint. The dishes were all well made and presented. The wait staff knew exactly what was in each dish and how they were prepared. Must try this restaurant! Be sure to... More

Every time we go to uchiko it's awesome. Uchi and uchiko have consistently the best sushi in Austin and best experience. Worth the price and listen to the waiters and waitresses BC they know what is good.

Took our servers direction and tried many different dishes. Each prepared amazingly and unusually. One of the better dinners we have ever had while traveling. Highly highly recommend.

Save your experience for the $100 tasting menu. I'm saying this because I've been blown away twice with my experience at Uchiko. The first time was back in March, we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday and one of his friends, a Michelin-star-restaurant-chaser, was hesitant to let me arrange the dinner but acquiesced. Needless to say, he was astounded at the... More

The quality of the fish is amazing. You can tell how fresh the fish is from the very first bite. This is not a traditional sushi place but fusion so they add tiny ingredients to the fish that really bring out the best flavor in each fish. For example, the strong mint with the mackerel or the yogurt with the... More

We were there celebrating a family milestone. The drinks were delicious (we had cocktails and sake). The food was outstanding. We did not have high expectations for the vegetarians in the group, but we were very well served. The sushi rolls and the brussels sprouts were so good we had seconds! The desserts were unusual and the milk toffe one... More

A favorite of ours, Uchiko once again provided amazing service (not one server walked past our table without taking an empty dish, refilling water, etc., but it never felt intrusive; each dish brought out was identified as being celiac-friendly or not) and a great meal. The changes to the menu were nice to try. The gyutoro was fantastic - wagyu... More

Some friends from Austin took us there. Every dish and the atmosphere, changed our first thought of "going to Texas to eat Japanese?". Not cheap but worth every penny, we will be back when in Austin.

On a recent business trip I stayed with a good friend I worked with a decade ago. She suggested Uchiko. I cannot say enough good things about the many food "experiences" we tasted. The beets were heavenly. So good, you hold the food in your mouth a while and savor the unusual blend of flavors. She suggested the Brussels sprouts... More

We are proud to announce... Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uchiko, translated as "child of Uchi" from Japanese, is the next restaurant venture for renowned executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole.
