Franklin Barbecue was one of the stops Jon Favreau's food truck made in the movie Chef. The brisket looked so good, I was determined to have some during my first trip to Austin. A little research revealed Franklin's opens at 11 and closes when they run out of food. Folks camp out from dawn with their folding chairs, card games... More

Had the best ribs ever here. The wait was like hanging out in the lot before a concert. Happy, friendly people on the line, all with a common interest..the food instead of music. Got there at 930 and ate around 12. Folks next to us were from Vancouver and gave great tips on a trip there. They sell beer and... More

Made a last minute decision to go to Franklin BBQ last Saturday. I arrived in Austin at noon and thought I would try to get in for lunch. When we arrived there was the expected line. We were in line for about a half a hour and were told to manage expectations - might not have brisket. People coming out... More

There's an air of exclusivity of this place, limited hours, higher than average prices and historically long lines. Walking to the place you can smell the smoking meats from blocks away. I arrived at 930am on a Tuesday morning. The line was already stretched around the back and down the street. People were camped out like Best Buy on Thanksgiving... More

Going to Austin for the first time, I knew I had to try Franklin Barbeque. It’s all everyone talks about! I was a bit daunted by all the stories out there about long waits, crazy lines, and having food run out soon after opening. I did some research and found that Franklin has a pre-order option! That’s right folks –... More

We visited Franklin’s BBQ on a Saturday morning in Austin (it was the Saturday after the University of Texas spring graduation). It is pretty easy to find, but parking is difficult even if arriving early. I know my review will basically be sacrilege to a lot of folks, but it is my review. We knew of the story so we... More

Arrived at 7:00 am on a Sunday, got our food at 11:45. Although it was the best piece of meat I have ever eaten, I don't know if I would wait over 4 hours for it again. The best part about the whole wait was the experience you have waiting in line. I heard conversations from people all over the... More

On a Sunday, we arrived around 11:30am. There was a small line and we found parking. We waited in line 90 minutes, it was worth the wait. The Ribs were the best we have ever had. We also had brisket, turkey and sausage. While you are in line the staff asks how much brisket and sausage you may want to... More

On a Sunday, we arrived around 10:00. The line was not bad and we even parked in there parking lot. We were expecting to park down the road. They provide camp chairs for the people waiting but all were used up when we arrived. Thankfully we brought a towel to sit on during the wait. There is a coffee trailer... More
