Had dinner here since we could walk down from the hotel and did not feel like driving anywhere. Food was OK. Service not too much. We had been seated for all of 30 seconds when we were asked what we wanted to eat - we had not even opened at the menus! Asked her to come back in a few... More

Was in Abilene and was on my way to Chick-fil-A and saw the Mexican restaurant. It's clearly local find and has been in existence for many years. The reason of course is that they provide excellent lunch buffet and the enchiladas are way above average.

Loved the Rellenos. Beef in enchiladas and tacos comes from a bag. Margaritas and chips/salsa were adequate. Not real pricey so this was a satisfactory visit.

Late lunch (1:30) visit. Enchiladas ok, fajitas not very good, ice tea ok, waitress ok, received our food in record time - less than 5 min....ummmm....maybe that's why food was just ok. No cheese unless u order extra. Hot sauce was HORRIBLE! Won't be back.

This place is an abilene staple. The owner is always there and is always friendly. We havn't been in about 4 years since we moved 4.5 hours away, but it hasn't changed a bit as far as quality and consistancy. You would think Cheese enchiladas are an easy thing to make, but so many mexican restuarants mess them up. Here... More

I had been told the food here was good. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Good points: chips and taco were good. Not so good: service was slow getting food and final bill; cheese enchalada had no taste (very little cheese) (I prefer mine with onions). I won't be back.

Growing up it was always fun to go to Burro Alley and have a great meal at Casa Herrera. One of the elements that made it special was the family that ran it. Fortunately, even with the move to a new, more modern restaurant near the Mall of Abilene, that family tradition and ambience continues to reign. I have recommended... More

The person who posted about roaches and the terrible building surely has this restaurant confused with another. It couldn't possibly be Casa Herrera. I've eaten with them off and on for years and it's always very clean including the bathroom. That's one of the reasons I like to eat there. We order off the menu so I can't comment on... More

Our food was delicious and plentiful. Our tea glasses never hit empty nor did our complimentary chips and salsa. Give Casa Herrera a try and you'll leave pleased with the service and the food.
