Allegro Restaurant This is one of our favorite Italian Restaurants in Altoona/Johnstown area. We were there for Wedding Anniversary. As usual they bought us complementary Garlic bread and veal meatballs as soon as we got our bottle of wine. They have a nice wine selection. Appetizer List is long, we had the Baked Artichoke hearts, which were excellent. Entrees we... More

Had a business meeting with dinner here and was more than pleased. Excellent filet mignon. Cooked perfect. The wait staff was fantastic. Super efficient and very pleasant . Will definitely come back for a great meal on a weekend.

Growing up, I always heard that the Allegro was "so expensive," but it's really not. Or at least it doesn't have to be. It's classy, yet very affordable. My date and I both had pasta dishes (which were decent-sized portions), along with the complimentary bread and veal balls, and were out the door for about $40 (including tip.) Of course,... More

On our most recent visit to the Allegro, I was once again reminded that is it a gem. In attendance were my wife, Maria, and our 2 grandchildren; Izzie (6) and Rocco (9). We had just seen the excellent stage version of SHREK:THE MUSICAL put on by Altoona Community Theatre at the historic Mishler Theatre in downtown Altoona and we... More

Eaten here many times with family and with my wife. Excellent menu and great service. Have early bird specials for those early diners.

Stopped in for dinner on a weekend expecting a delicious meal. Steak was served very rare, although ordered well done. Risotto was very overcooked with good flavor, just would have preferred al dente risotto. One waitress wears way too much perfume and when she walks by your table, it really disrupts the taste and flavor of your meal. It's sad... More

Had no idea that Altoona had such a fine restaurant. Unimpressive exterior, but a great menu and service. Sesami Ahi Tuna was great, and the crab cocktail was not just a little tablespoon of lump crab. We followed that with a Filet Oscar and Lobster dinners. In between they brought us some exquisite veal meatballs in sauce and garlic bread.... More

Red sauce. White table cloths. Hard bread. I'm Italian and this not how Grandma made it. Ordering spaghetti at a restaurant or any red sauce can be so disappointing. This is the case for me at the Allegro. It is very over priced. I used to go here on dates but this place is very expensive for spaghetti!

This is clearly the best place to eat in Altoona. Great Italian food and their steaks can't be beat. Outstanding service too.
