Fantastic little restaurant, we are so glad we chose this place for dinner. Short rib was delish, with nice roasted/charred veg, and the burger with fries was amazing. Great service (thanks Crystal), great wine and beer. Far better than all other restaurants we have tried in Ashland

Have been here twice now & am still undecided as to whether or not I like it. Pros, friendly staff, nice bar & restaurant seating, music from old records which is kinda cool. Very quiet so great for conversation over dinner. We had an oatmeal stout & a Pinot Noir both were really good. Cons, Very quiet! Both visits have... More

A restaurant that is also a cool, intimate venue for live music. We dropped in late for dessert. The dessert, the ambiance, and the service was great. The band performing was Small Souls out of Portland. First time I ever bought an Americana Folk album, their debut studio album.

This restaurant is relatively new and was recommended by a couple of our friends. It is a bit off the beaten path, in the Railroad District, but only about 0.5 miles from the Shakespeare Festival play venues. It was an easy walk. The restaurant is air conditioned and very nicely laid out inside with comfortable seating and a very pleasant... More

The Public House was recommended by the Innkeeper at The Chanticleer Inn B&B. I've been eating in excellent restaurants for 30 years and this is among the best! The Duck Breast with local cherries and Halibut with Mushrooms were perfectly cooked with sauces of sublime character. Get off of Main st. and visit The Public House.

Excellent dinner at Public House last night. This was the first time we tried it since it opened - and we were delightfully surprised. Amazing egg yolk gnocchi... Do not miss this really unusual dish! Fabulous cold asparagus soup. And the duck preparation was incredibly creative and delicious. Great service. Lovely setting. Can't wait to go back!

This very simple place, off the beaten path, is easy to walk to even though tucked in back street. Very complex dishes with a simple menu that tantalizes the palate. Waiter explained each dish. Reasonable size dishes but not overwheliming us, so we still had room for great desserts too

Best food and service experience of my time in Ashland. Creative menu, beautifully presented and described, Michael, our server, was helpful, understood the menu and encouraged me to try a wine very different from my usual taste. He was absolutely correct! Since we had theater tickets, we left just as the musicians were starting but wish we could have stayed.... More

We go to Public House frequently. The menu is always creative and preparation is outstanding. Chef Josh takes great pride in presenting a combination of seasonal dishes with interesting flavor combinations that work well. Casual friendly atmosphere.

We'd heard the people who own Tot now own this place, so decided to check it out. The deco is the same as when it was the Playwright's Pub, and they call it "gastropub" food, so we were expecting more of the same. Wow, we couldn't have been more wrong. Our party of three ordered two different salads and an... More
