We came here early, 10:40, on a rainy Saturday morning. No other customers. We were greeted and fed right away. Our hamburgers were fresh, juicy generous affairs with sauce however you wish. I loved the dark, crisp wavy fries. My husband did not. The place is clean and spacious with lots of natural light. We have lived in Ashland 30... More

This place looks cute and the service is friendly, but the food lags behind what one expects in Ashland nowadays. A 1950s diner decor is great, but not when the sandwiches are 1950s in quality.

Big Al's was immediately across the street from Abigail's B&B so we stopped for a quick bite before walking to the theater. Mostly hamburgers and tacos. Food was individually prepared and very good.

Our family has been on a hunt for the best burgers and chocolate shakes in Southern Oregon. Our research took us to Big Al's, where we found a large, juicy burger, and one of the best chocolate shakes we've had. The staff are friendly, personable, and the cook burst into song, which was quite fun. The fries were tasty. We... More

This is a cute little place. The service was friendly & helpful. We tried the Haystack burger & the Mexiburger with fries. Fries were excellent, crinkle cut & crisp. Burgers were okay. Yummy topping combos, but the patties were pre-made & fairly ordinary. We also tried the chocolate shake which was pretty darn good! Overall a fun experience. Cute stained... More

Went there twice. Reasonable burrito and cheese steak sandwich. Fries and shakes were good. A hamburger was over cooked.

2:00 pm. Fries limp. Burger patty uninteresting: not browned. Bun was grilled nicely, but the bread was ordinary. Staff is friendly. Booths worn out. No table service.

My husband and I had supper here and we both ordered different kinds of burgers. However, they also offer some Mexican dishes. Our burgers were so juicy and messy that you wanted to keep eating it and not try to put it down -- the kind where the juice drips down your chin. But they were delicious. The only downside,...
