In this day of big business it's hard to find independently owned small businesses that strive to be nothing more than just that. Great food. Small town, family atmosphere, great prices and local economy support. Why would you want to go to a chain store and make someone across the country richer when you can enjoy a great meal and... SAKS is family owned and operated with a very Patriotic atmosphere that makes you proud to be an American each time you visit. Great Burgers, Dogs, Barbeque and Chicken. They treat my Mother like one of the family, but they do everyone who comes by. West side of Asheboro and well worth the few moments it takes to drive down... More

This little place is sort of off the beaten path, about 8 or 10 miles from Asheboro going toward Lexington on US Highway 64. It is "The Home of The Pickin" Chicken & Woodfired BBQ". Haven't tried the Pickin"Chicken, but did have a go a the woodfired BBQ, and it is not bad. It comes out of the kitchen rather... More

Foam cups, plastic forks, cement floor, small anywhere place. Drove 11 miles from our hotel because of other reviews to find a place out in the country with nobody there, frozen vegetables, frozen fries, barbeque, sauce too sweet for my taste. Said that they had been there 7 years, not sure why, nice people but nothing special.

My Family and I had the pleasure of dining at Saks Diner on our trip to the NC Zoo in Asheboro. They exceeded our expectations. The flounder was cooked to perfection, and the cheese steak sub was delicious. The kids were happy with their meals also. The atmosphere is welcoming and the family that owns and runs the diner are... More

We visited Saks during a trip a couple of weeks ago -- it was great!! We had the chicken & pork with the his famous sauce. The sauce is great it is much better than the vinegar based sauces we have in our area. We got a bottle for home and the only thing I can say is it didn't... More

As owner Steve may say "it is what it is" and what it is is real hickory cooked pit barbeque with Steve's personally created sauce (he claims not even wife Kim knows the recipe). The sauce is mild, slightly sweet and tangy and stands on it's own--not even Texas Pete on the tables. This is food lovingly prepared for people... More
