This shop is my most favorite ice-cream shop in Kyoto. The ice cream, made from kinako (soy bean powder), tastes really fresh and soft. Served together with a cup of hot tea, it is a perfect combination after your long day strolling around Kyoto. My...More

The cafe is specialist in fresh ice cream and parfait. We've tried the signature parfait, Soy-bean fresh ice cream and also the cake roll with kinana mochi! I love the parfait a lot !

My second visit to this ice cream, sweets cafe. They specialise in fresh ice cream, I love the green tea and kinako icecreams. They only have Japanese sweets (ice cream flavour, mocha based sweets and red bean stuff). If you like this kind of stuff,...More

The shop has many quirks, well elaborated by other reviewers before me. I'll summarize them here: -no take-outs -cake sold out fast -tucked away at an inconspicuous corner -minimum one order per customer, no sharing All of these made the visit unpleasant, as I was...More

The ice cream is amazing!!! Much better, less sweet than Tsujiri's parfaits. The dekitate ice cream flavour that day was brown sugar, and it was our favourite. We also each ordered the Japanese parfait and finished it in 15 mins. They also serve complimentary green...More

Visited at 6pm, good time to go as very quiet. I had the Kinana Japon parfait and my husband the 3 scooped Kinana Sanshumori. Tasty and interesting but I didn't love. Great if you wanted to try an ice that is a little out of...More

My friend told us that we MUST TRY the desserts in Gion Kinana before we planned our trip, so it was part of our food itinerary! We had quite a bit of trouble looking for the place though, unless you are armed with a map...More

Gion
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko"
in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and
entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the
streets on their way to and from work, where they fan
dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion
