We enjoyed this establishment so much we went back a second time in 3 days. It has a nice atmosphere with a choice of seating, traditional, bar or table (the last overlooking the river). The food is excellent and beautifully presented as one would expect....More

Fantastic meal in exquisite environment of laneways restaurants with glimpses of Geisha going to work. Great atmosphere on riverside, best fresh tuna I’ve ever eaten. Friendly service, very polite.

Nice peaceful resturant. The portions were regular but very nice (there is an option to go large.) The service was average, the main was delivered before appetizers, a little annoying.

Very nice food but service incredibly slow and absent minded. At least 20 mins between serving first main course and the last main course - made dining experience very uncomfortable. No proactivity from waiters - had to ask for everything and even get up and...More

Pontocho
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's
most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow
street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's
busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls,
Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life,
making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to
come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and
bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly
