Following recommendations to try a Kaiseki meal whilst in Kyoto we opted to go here as we managed to get a booking for the following day. Unfortunately in the two weeks we spent in Japan, this was the worst meal we had and the real...More

Firstly, and as one of the other posts already noted, the decor/ambiance feels very much like a canteen or cafe rather than high-end dining. Bright lights and beige walls did nothing for the atmosphere. You can opt for a private dining room which may be...More

Reasonably priced kaiseki course in Kyoto. Conveniently located in shopping district of Shijo/Kawaramachi. Not sure about lunch but for dinner, you can make reservation for a private Japanese style room. Highly recommended.

Located in downtown Kyoto, this modest-looking restaurant serves up some of the finest food in Japan. Tagoto had been recommended to us by friends who specialize in finding great restaurants. We ordered the Kaiseki-Usagi course for dinner, which is the equivalent of a farm-to-table meal...More

Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find

piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed
